BMW launches locally made X3 and X5 petrol in India

Amidst the ban on diesel powered cars, BMW has expanded their petrol SUV line-up. The German luxury car maker has launched 2 new variants in form of X3 xDrive28i priced at Rs. 54.90 lakh and the X5 xDrive35i priced at Rs. 73.5 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

The X3 xDrive28i gets powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces a maximum of 242 BHP of power and 350 Nm of maximum torque, which is available between 1250 – 4800 rpm. The bigger SUV, the X5 xDrive35i is powered by a larger 3.0-litre, straight 6 cylinder engine that produces a maximum of 302 BHP and maximum torque of 400 Nm that stays between 1200-5000 rpm. Both the engines get paired with 8-speed Steptronic transmission, which is an advanced transmission system that offers quick shifts and performance. Both the SUVs can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds.

Both the SUVs also feature BMW’s ‘X-Drive’ 4-wheel drive system that offers better driving dynamics and better traction across a vast terrain. The all-drive system also constantly monitors the terrain to shift the perfect balance of power between the front wheels and rear wheels. The xDrive also features Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), the SUVs gain more stability.

Feature wise, both the SUVs get auto start/stop, ECO PRO mode, brake-energy regeneration, 50:50 weight distribution and a drive mode switch that lets the drive to choose between different terrains to experience the best driving conditions. There is also BMW navigation system with 3D maps. The SUVs also get iDrive infotainment system with handwriting recognition.
