BMW launches new variant of 320d

BMW has launched a new model of its entry level sedan, the 3 Series, christened the 3 Series Edition Sport. The vehicle is only on offer in the 320d diesel version and is priced at Rs 38.60 lakhs, ex-showroom.

It can be had in a total of three colour options, Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Mediterranean Blue. On the inside, sports seats with red contrast stitching. On the outside, the car gets a new gloss black kidney grille up front and all other accents have been finished in black now, giving the car a more meaner look.

The steering wheel is equipped with paddle shifters and has red contrast stitching on it as well. The car has a sun roof, a 205 watt 9 speaker Hi-Fi sound system and the car key is also finished with a red trim. The car is also equipped with a launch control mode, for those quick off the line starts. Other standard features include a new rear view camera, rear parking sensors, 16.5″ iDrive screen with the new tile iDrive system, BMW Apps and driving mode options (Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, Sport +)

Power comes from the same 2.0 liter engine which was on offer on the 320d and the 520d. The engine produces 190 Bhp and 400 Nm. The engine is mated to an 8 speed ZF transmission. The engine has TwinPower turbo technology to reduce the turbo lag. It does 0-100 in 7.2 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. It has a max fuel efficiency of 22.69 kmpl as per ARAI figures.

The 3 Series diesel range consists of the 320d Prestige, priced at Rs 36.3 lakhs, the Sport line priced at Rs 41.3 lakhs, the Luxury line priced at Rs 41.8 lakhs and the M Sport priced at Rs 43.4 lakhs. The 3 Series competes with the newly launched Jaguar XE, the new Audi A4 and the Mercedes C Class.
