BMW luxury SUV seized from alleged IPL bettor

A BMW X4 has been seized by the Raipur Police because three people were using the luxury car for betting purposes. Kishan Agrawal, Vikas Agrawal and Rahul Agarwal have been arrested while using SUV for gambling in IPL. The incident happened in Chhattisgarh.

Kishan used to use an international mobile number so that the police cannot find him. Vikas and Rahul used Kishan’s id for betting between the Hyderabad and Rajasthan IPL match. All three people have been arrested under The Public Gambling Act. Police also seized Rs. 11,000 cash, a Grey Maruti Suzuki Swift and the bank account has also been frozen as it contains Rs. 6.4 Crores.

It is not the first time that someone has been arrested because of IPL gambling. Every year whenever IPL happens there are many arrests and reports of police arresting people and catching betting rackets. Often there is a lot of money also involved in such things. Recently, an IPL racket in Delhi was also busted where 5 people were arrested by the cops. A similar incident happened in Pune where two people were arrested and Rs. 93 lakhs were seized.

BMW X4

BMW X4 is a coupe SUV, which is a new trend in the automobile industry. It has a stance and ground clearance of the SUV while the design has a coupe-like roofline. The first SUV to follow this design language was the BMW X6 but it was not well received at first but nowadays most manufacturers are now making coupe SUVs.

The X4 is the smaller sibling of the X6. So, it does derive some of the elements from the X6. Up-front there is BMW’s kidney grille flanked by LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps. It gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system connected to a Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic sunroof, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, heads up display and much more.

BMW never offered the first generation X4 in India. The second generation was brought as a CKD or Completely Built Unit because of which cost quite a bit. It starts at Rs. 62.4 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 69.9 lakhs ex-showroom. There are three variants of the SUV, namely xDrive20d, xDrive30i and xDrive30d.

The X4 that was seized is the xDrive20d. It gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 190 bhp of max power and 400 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission that drives all four wheels.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

The second vehicle that is seized by the Raipur Police is the Maruti Suzuki Swift finished in Grey. We can even see the vehicle in the background parked next to the BMW X4. It is the pre-facelifted top-end ZXi variant of the Swift. So, it is equipped with a 1.2-litre K Series naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 83 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. You can get it with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The Swift starts at Rs. 5.85 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 8.67 lakhs ex-showroom.
