MG has received a great response for their latest SUV, the Astor. Now, the deliveries of the Astor have been postponed because of chip shortage. The Astor was launched on October 11th and MG aims to deliver 5,000 units of the Astor by the end of this year.
Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer of MG Motor India revealed this information by uploading a video on MG’s YouTube channel. Gaurav explained that the supply of semiconductors is uncertain and dynamic. The parts that are being sourced from suppliers on weekly basis gets altered due to which MG itself has to change its production plans which causes delay.

Also, the Indian market has responded differently to Astor’s variants than what MG earlier was hoping for. Due to this, MG has to recalibrate its back-end. They are still trying to improve the production process. Customers who have booked the Astor can see their delivery schedule on the My MG application, MG’s website, by getting in touch with the dealerships or by calling MG’s help centre.
Also, if the deliveries get further delayed for the first batch i.e. first 5,000 cars then the customers will be price protected and they would get their Astor at the launch price. This is a good initiative taken by MG to protect the first batch of MG Astor customers. Till now, MG has delivered 500 units of Astor to its customers.
