In the past, we have seen videos in which people have set cars and bikes on fire for various reasons. One of the recent reports comes from Chandigarh, where an unknown person set a businessman’s brand-new BMW Z4 sports car on fire. The car was set on fire by two individuals, and a video of the incident is circulating on the internet. The entire incident was captured on the CCTV camera installed in the house. The car belonged to Prabhneek Singh, who operates an IT company in Chandigarh’s Phase 8B industrial area.
The CCTV footage shows two men standing next to the car, which was parked right outside Prabhneek’s house. They both surveyed the surroundings, and once they believed the area was clear, they poured petrol over the car. We can clearly see one of them opening the bottle and pouring the fuel. The video indicates that two people were present at the scene, but only one of them is visible in it. It is possible that the other person was prepared with a bike to escape if someone spotted them.

The person pouring the petrol wore a helmet to ensure that his face was not captured in the video. He then simply ignited the car, causing a bright light to appear on the camera. This occurred because he used highly flammable petrol. The person is nowhere to be seen after that. Both of them were wearing uniforms from a food delivery firm. Prabhneek was at work when this incident occurred, and he received a call from his family about the fire at around 1:30 am. Fortunately, the fire did not completely destroy the car.
Only the left fender, alloy wheels, and the tires were damaged in the fire. The family informed the fire department, and by the time they arrived, neighbors and family members had already extinguished the fire. Prabhneek Singh can be heard saying in the video that it was a brand-new sports car. The Z4 seen in the video is a convertible 2-door sports car, and it is the current generation as well. The car seen in the video is the BMW Z4 sDrive 20i, priced at Rs 71.90 lakh ex-showroom. The on-road price of this car would be around Rs 90 lakh. The BMW Z4 seen in the video is powered by a 2.0-liter, twin-turbocharged petrol engine that generates 194 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the power is sent to the rear wheels.
The individuals dressed as delivery boys were likely not actual delivery partners. This was probably done to conceal their identities. There have been many incidents where people have damaged other people’s cars out of jealousy. Local police are involved in this matter and are investigating the case. SHO Gabbar Singh told the media that they are investigating every aspect of the incident to ensure that the case is solved soon. Last year, in November, a 3-week-old Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R bike worth Rs 20 lakh was set on fire by unknown individuals.
