While the all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N has gathered a lot of attention in the Indian market and the waiting periods are through the roof, there are now numerous cases where the newly delivered units of the SUV are breaking down. Here is one more case reported by the owner of Mahindra Scorpio-N. The SUV reportedly broke down only 12 km after taking delivery.
The owner Malik Sanjay shared the details on a social media platform. According to him, the Mahindra Scorpio-N could not even reach home after taking the delivery. The SUV broke down within 10 km of taking the delivery. While the family was stranded on the road after taking delivery of the new Scorpio-N, the technicians from the service centre reached to the spot.

According to the owner, the technicians took about 3 hours to rectify the problem. The vehicle was not able to start initially. After some fiddling by the tecnicians, it finally started. The owner says that the problem has returned. He is not able to start the vehicle as it is lying in the basement parking of his home. The vehicle was towed to the service centre.
We are not sure if Mahindra has addressed the problem of the owner. The owner, however, was very unhappy with the vehicle and said that even after 6 months of waiting, there is a lot of mental agony, harassment and embarrasment after buying the Scorpio-N.
Not the first such report
Another owner Shikha Srivastava, an owner of Mahindra Scorpio-N, took the car’s delivery on the first official delivery date – 26 September 2022. She took it to Twitter to raise a complaint and tagged the big honchos at Mahindra including Anish Shah, MD & CEO, and the bossman Anand Mahindra. The owner Shikha Srivastava uploaded videos and pictures of the problem on Twitter and requested of immediate action. Apart from a few likes of re-tweets, we could not find any official response from Mahindra.
According to the post, the problem surfaced when she was driving the car. The clutch and gear got stuck and stopped working. The clutch pedal sank to the floor. She has also uploaded a video showing how she is using her foot to pull the clutch pedal.
There are several other reports suggesting that the new Scorpio-N are breaking down for some reason or the other. Last year, Mahindra issued a massive recall for in the XUV700, Thar and XUV300.
The XUV700 and Thar diesel variants was recalled to fit a new turbocharger actuator linkage. The petrol XUV700 were inspected for the T-Block connector installations on the Gas Vent Pipes and canister. The brand has not given out information on the affected number of units. However, it is likely to be large in number, given the high demand for both vehicles in the market.
This was the fourth recall for Mahindra XUV700. Earlier, Mahindra issued a critical recall alert for the XUV700 to fix the alternator belt and auto-tensioner pulley. The last recall also addressed the Electronic Steering Column Lock or ESCL.
