Brand-new Mahindra XUV700 uproots electric pole after high speed crash: Keeps passengers safe

By Shantonil Nag

Mahindra XUV700 became one of the safest cars in the Indian market when it was launched. Even though the Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun are now the safest cars in the country, the XUV500 remains somewhere at the top of the list. Here is an accident where a Mahindra XUV700 hit an electric pole at high speed and broke the pole.

This Mahindra XUV700 was delivered recently and even the ribbons on the car were in place. The incident from Maharashtra shows the XUV700 hitting the electric pole at a high speed. The pole is uprooted and is lying on the top of the Mahindra XUV700. The passengers in the car were safe and did not get any kind of injuries.

The footage of XUV700 also shows that the roof o the car did not crumple under the weight of the pole. While the front of the car is completely damaged and is unrecognisable, the passenger cabin and the roof remain intact. It seems like a high-speed crash but there are no details on how exactly the crash happened.

Such poles are quite heavy and the structure of the XUV700 taking the weight of the pole shows how strong the structure really is.

Mahindra XUV700 became the safest car

The new blockbuster SUV from Mahindra had bagged the ‘Safer Choice’ award from Global NCAP for its excellent performance in the crash tests conducted by the agency. Mahindra XUV700 became the second Mahindra car in history to get a complete five-star rating. The SUV received the crash test ratings in accordance with the previous rules, which did not include a side crash test.

Global NCAP was awarded a five-star rating after the Mahindra XUV700 scored 16.03 out of a total of 17 points. The car’s structure is also rated as stable. The crash test also found that the potential injuries to the front passengers also remain marginal. The car also received the highest points ever for a child safety rating when it was tested. It scored 41.66 out of a maximum of 49, the highest for any made-in-India car. The bodyshell and the footwell area of the Mahindra XUV700 were rated as stable.

The XUV700 remains one of the hot sellers in the market. However, there are numerous reports on how the owners are abusing the ADAS of the vehicle. Many videos on social media platforms show how owners take off their hands completely from the steering wheel of the XUV700 to make reels. In some cases, the driver can be spotted playing Ludo and cards while in some other cases, the driver is absent from the driver’s seat while the car moves on its own.
