TVS Motors has just launched the Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant Apache RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V. The 2020 TVS Apache RTR 160 is priced at Rs. 99,950, ex-showroom Delhi, for the version with a front disc brake and rear drum brake. The 2020 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V with disc brakes on both wheels is priced at Rs. 1.03 lakhs while the top-of-the-line 2020 Apache RTR 200 4V is priced at Rs. 1.24 lakhs. All three motorcycles are now available for booking across all TVS Motors dealerships in India.
Fuel injection is standard on all three versions of the Apache 160 and Apache 200, and this is a key feature that has allowed these bikes to lower tail pipe emissions, and to get more fuel efficient. The 2020 TVS Apache 160 and 200 get an LED headlamp as standard, and will also a new Glide Through Traffic (GTT) mode, which is an anti-stall code integrated into the motorcycle’s ECU to help it crawl in slow moving traffic. Other feature additions include a feather touch’ start and redesigned mirrors.
In terms of pricing, the Apache RTR 160 Drum is pricier by Rs. 3,000, the RTR 160 Disc is pricier by Rs. 8,000 and the RTR 200 is pricier by Rs. 10,000. Clearly, BS6 compliance is coming at a steep price increase, and expect this to be the norm across most motorcycles that move from BS4 to BS6 norms. As for power and torque outputs, the Apache RTR 160 makes 16.02 PS of peak power at 8,250 RPM and 14.12 Nm of peak torque at 7250 RPM. A 5 speed manual gearbox is standard.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 makes 20.5 PS of peak power at 8,500 RPM and 16.8 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 RPM, while a 5 speed manual gearbox is on offer. While the RTR 160 gets a single channel ABS as standard, the RTR 200 gets a dual channel ABS module with rear lift off protection and a slipper clutch (in the gearbox) as standard. While the Racing Red, Metallic Blue and Knight Black are the three colours in which the Apache RTR 160 is available with, the Apache RTR 200 is offered in two paint schemes: Gloss Black and Pearl White.
