India's Most Powerful Mitsubishi Cedia Makes A Mammoth 400 Bhp [Video]

The Mitsubishi Cedia is one of those iconic sedans from the 2000s which, unfortunately, could not meet the needs of the Indian masses. However, this sedan did manage to steal the hearts of enthusiasts due to the rally pedigree of Mitsubishi. Recently, we came across a Mitsubishi Cedia sedan which is hands down the craziest one that we have ever seen. Now, what's so special about this Cedia, you may ask? Well, it has 400 bhp, which is the courtesy of its completely built powertrain.
This video showing the single most powerful Mitsubishi Cedia in India has been shared on YouTube by The Drivers Hub on their channel. This video starts off with the vlogger mentioning that the Cedia was, and even today is, a dream car of many automotive enthusiasts in India. However, it was very underpowered and sluggish.
Originally, it came with a 4G94, 2.0L naturally aspirated, SOHC, 16-valve, cast iron block with forged steel connecting rods, which made around 115 bhp and around 175 Nm torque. Now, at the time when it was launched, it was decent, but by today's standards, this sedan is very slow. However, he then introduces the owner of this particular Cedia, who runs Race Concepts, which has completely transformed his car.
Following the introduction, the vlogger asks the owner about the modifications done to this particular Cedia. To this, he replies that they have added fully forged internals, custom compression ratio ~8.8:1, stage 4 cylinder head with custom porting and combustion chamber work. It also gets a custom exhaust with a Garrett G-series turbo and a custom aluminum intake manifold.
He added that the powerband of this Cedia has been pushed to 7,000 RPM from a diesel-like ~5,000 RPM. The owner also mentions that they have utilised the stock throttle body with revised idle calibration. Also, the external wastegate is controlled manually, and it gets a tune via Race Dynamics R200 ECU.
Other modifications of this Cedia include a stage 4 clutch, lightened bespoke flywheel, custom close-ratio gearbox with shorter final drive, which has been designed for better launch and seamless acceleration. Additionally, it gets Race Concepts coilovers, a strut bar for improved agility, fully adjustable dampers, upgraded brakes with slotted rotors, improved pads and lines, and a 16-inch alloy wheel setup.
The vlogger and the owner then continue by mentioning that this particular vehicle was built in early 2023. It has been driven 7,000–8,000 km and has been tested on a 2,100 km round trip with a milder 9 psi tune, in which it makes 265 bhp on the wheels. Soon after, this vehicle gets driven on the track designed by the owner of this vehicle.
While driving, the vlogger highlights that there is a notable grip struggle due to the high power delivery. However, despite this, the vehicle feels “insane and intoxicating,” according to the vlogger. He added that cars like these inspire young kids to become enthusiasts. He continued driving the vehicle around the track and highlighted that it feels very agile, and the driving experience is nothing short of fun.
