Abhishek Bachchan Buys Bollywood’s First New Land Rover Defender 130 [Video]

The Bachchan family has been quite passionate about expensive and fast cars and SUVs. Abhishek Bachchan has now bought a brand new Land Rover Defender 130 for himself. The 48-year-old actor was recently spotted at a private airport in Mumbai along with the car. A video of the same is now doing rounds on the internet.

The clip shows the actor getting out of the co-driver seat, and walking towards the airport entrance. He is seen in swanky clothes and does not stop much for photographers. The car- a Defender 130, wears a Grey paint (the Carpathian Grey) and has a Black roof. Land Rover sells the Defender in three forms or body styles- 90,110 and 130. 90 is the short wheelbase, 110 is the standard wheelbase and 130 is the long wheelbase guise. It is mostly the 110 that enjoys the highest acceptance- but not with the Bachchans!

Abhishek’s Defender 130 draws power from a massive 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine. It packs 500 horses that can make the vehicle sprint to 100 kph from a standstill in just 5.7 seconds. We are talking about an SUV that weighs 2.5 tons! The transmission offered is an 8-speed automatic unit. The Defender 130 V8 has a top speed of 240 kph and comes with air suspension. The on-road cost is around 1.87 Cr in Mumbai.

Inside the cabin, it gets features like a 11.4-inch Pivi Pro Touchscreen Infotainment Display, 700W Meridian Surround Sound System, ClearSight Rear View Mirror, 4-zone Climate Control, Cabin Air Purification system, 3D Surround Camera and more.

The Big B of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan owns another Defender 130. It has a Sedona Red exterior colourway. The roof is finished in body colour and not Black. The SUV has been specced with Style 5095, Diamond Turned wheels as well.

The actor bought it as a birthday gift for himself, in October 2023. The vehicle was delivered to his home and has a registration plate that reads MH 02 GC 200. Big B was later spotted driving it on multiple occasions. This is rare, as the 81-year old actor mostly prefers to be chauffeured around. Talking about his driving style, the man drives safely and carefully- particularly appreciable on the busy Mumbai roads.

Big B’s BIG SUV is of the 3.0D LWB HSE trim. It is this trim that offers the highest degree of personalisation. With an on-road price of 1.3 Cr in Mumbai (speccing cost extra), it comes with a capable 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine- 8AT combo. This powertrain churns out 296 hp and 650 Nm. It also comes with a capable 4WD tech.

The Defender 130 Is HUGE!

The charisma of the Defender 130 lies its size. It feels huge, spanning 5,358 mm in length (this is more than the entire length of an Isuzu D-Max VCross, and you know how long the VCross feels. To give you more clarity, the short wheelbase form of Force Urbania is just 5,440 mm long!), 2,105 mm in width and 1,970 mm in height.

The wheelbase stands at 3,022 mm, and the SUV has a ground clearance of 290 mm. These dimensions generate plenty of room inside and the HSE variant can be specced with various seating configurations- 5, 7 and 8.
