Anil Ambani Upgrades to Mercedes Benz S-Class from Hyundai Ioniq5 [Video]

Anil Ambani is Mukesh Ambani’s brother and owns several Reliance Group companies. The billionaire had once gone bankrupt and is currently rebuilding his empire. He had previously announced his intention to get into EV and components business. Anil Ambani’s garage has a Hyundai Ioniq5, which could seem to be too humble a car for what he is. He was often seen driving it. A recent video, however, shows him driving a Mercedes Benz S 450 luxury sedan.

Anil Ambani and his wife were spotted at a private airport with the vehicle. In the video, the couple is seen arriving at the airport and walking towards the car. The Black Mercedes S Class- a 2024 model, is waiting at the door and has a VIP registration plate that reads 1300. Security personnel can also be seen near the sedan.  Anil Ambani and his wife walk into the car. Anil himself is seen driving the sedan while his wife sits in the co-driver seat.

The S Class is Mercedes Benz’s flagship luxury sedan. It was priced higher before Mercedes Benz finally started locally assembling the car. The W222 S450 is powered by the 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder turbocharged (M256) engine that makes 362 bhp and 500 Nm. It comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The S Class is known for the luxury and comfort it offers. Mercedes Benz India launched the W222 generation S450 in India in October 2024. The car brought new features and a few key mechanical updates. The S 450 4Matic gets more airbags than its predecessor.

It now comes with new seatbelt airbags for the rear occupants. There is even a new central airbag between the driver and co-driver. The sedan also gets Mercedes’ Energizing air purification system. The dedicated air quality menu is displayed in the MBUX display.

The car gets two new exterior and interior colourways- Emerald Green Metallic with Sienna Brown/Black interior and Manufaktur Rubellite Red Metallic with Macchiato Beige/Magma Grey interior. The updated S450 4MATIC also gets rear-axle steering that can turn up to 10 degrees. This feature was originally offered in the 2021 model but was later removed when Mercedes started locally assembling it. The new model has brought rear-wheel steering back into the model.

Anil Ambani’s Car Collection

Despite facing financial challenges, Anil Ambani, the once-prominent billionaire, still owns an interesting selection of cars. Compared to his brother Mukesh Ambani, Anil’s car collection is relatively modest but still showcases a taste for luxury and practicality. He owns a Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV, BYD Seal, Mercedes-Benz GLS 450, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class S450.

Anil Ambani seems to be fond of electric vehicles. The Ioniq 5 has a rear-wheel-drive layout and has a 72.6kWh battery pack. The Seal sedan comes with two battery pack choices- 61.44kWh and 82.56kWh. We don’t know which of these has found its place inside Anil’s garage. The bankrupt billionaire was spotted arriving at the Ambani wedding in it.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 SUV is another car in his garage. This is the facelifted version of the flagship SUV and is packed with luxury features.

The SUV is powered by a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder petrol engine that generates 381 PS and 500 Nm. Mercedes-Benz also offers a diesel variant, the 450d, but the version seen with Anil Ambani is the petrol one. This SUV is renowned for its spacious interiors and cutting-edge technology, making it a favourite in the luxury SUV segment.
