Music Maestro A.R. Rahman Buys New Mahindra XEV 9E Electric SUV

Ever since Mahindra launched their new EVs, the BE6 and XEV 9E, we have been seeing several promotional videos featuring the maestro A.R. Rahman. Rahman is a world-renowned musician and needs no introduction. He was, in fact, associated with Mahindra for their new electric vehicles. He worked on the sound design of the BE6 and XEV 9E, and in one of the videos, we even heard him say that he is going to book one for himself. It looks like the musician was not joking. A.R. Rahman recently brought home his all-new XEV 9E electric SUV.
The image of his brand-new XEV 9E has been shared by Rahman on his Instagram page. In this post, we see him standing next to his brand-new EV with the initials of his name on the registration plate. Mahindra has only started delivering the top-end Pack Three variant, which means the musician has bought the same variant.
In the past, we have seen several videos of the musician driving the XEV 9E, and in most of them, he seems to like the vehicle. It has the image of a family SUV and is also bigger when compared to the BE6. We feel that is one of the reasons why he opted for the XEV 9E. This is not the first electric vehicle in musician's family. Few years ago, his daughter had bought a Porsche Taycan electric sports car.
One of the major reasons why Mahindra EVs appealed to a lot of customers was because of the way they are designed. They have very unique styling. In fact, Mahindra managed to retain most of the elements showcased in the concept version.
The XEV gets a muscular yet premium-looking design. It is an SUV based on Mahindra’s INGLO platform and has been developed from scratch. This platform was specifically developed for EVs. The front fascia features drop-down LED DRLs with a connecting LED bar.
Like most modern Mahindra vehicles, the XEV 9E is also a feature-loaded SUV. It gets premium features like three large 12.30-inch screens on the dashboard, which Mahindra calls the “Cinemascope Cockpit.” Additionally, Mahindra provides two screens for rear-seat passengers to ensure they don’t miss out on entertainment.
Other features include the VisionX Augmented Reality HUD, MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor, 24 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage.
The SUV also comes with seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and more. Other notable features include leatherette upholstery with seat ventilation, electrically adjustable seats, an infinity glass roof with dynamic lights, and multi-zone climate control.
The electric SUV is available with two battery pack options. The lower variants get a 59 kWh battery pack, while the higher variants get a 79 kWh battery. The smaller battery version generates 228 Bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque, offering a claimed range of 542 km. The larger 79 kWh variant generates 282 Bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque, with a claimed range of 656 km.
The price for a brand-new Mahindra XEV 9E starts at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹30.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
