The video has been shared by Mahindra Electric Original SUVs on their X profile. In this video, we see A.R. Rahman walk into the SUV proving ground owned by Mahindra in Tamil Nadu. We see Mr. Velusamy, Joint Managing Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, greeting A.R. Rahman. After a quick conversation about the collaboration, both of them go out to test drive the Mahindra EVs.

Velusamy can be seen asking Rahman which car he wants to drive. Rahman chooses the larger XEV 9E, and they begin the test drive. Velusamy even mentions that the Dolby system in Mahindra EVs is better than any German brand. A.R. Rahman is seen driving the car on the track, and he seems quite impressed.

We even see him checking the cabin’s acoustics and singing a song while driving. After driving the car, he says he is proud of Mahindra EVs as they are making people talk about Indian brands. He is only seen driving the XEV 9E, but we are sure he might have test-driven both vehicles.

The official bookings for Mahindra XEV 9E and BE 6 have started, and you can reserve yours at the nearest Mahindra dealership. Mahindra is also offering attractive financing options for its customers. At the end of the video, we can hear A.R. Rahman say that he is going to book his Mahindra EV soon. We can’t wait to see him behind the wheel of a Mahindra XEV 9E.

Mahindra built these new EVs from scratch in just 36 months. Both the BE 6 and XEV 9E are among the most technologically advanced vehicles ever built by an Indian manufacturer.

BE 6

The BE 6, previously known as the BE 6E, is the smaller of the two SUVs and was launched at an attractive price of ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV is available in three variants and is packed with premium features. It offers an illuminated BE logo on the steering wheel, twin floating screens on the dashboard, sleek AC vents, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, crash-resistant battery technology, seven airbags, and more. It also gets an infinity glass roof with dynamic LED lights.

It is available with two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The smaller battery pack offers a claimed driving range of 535 km, while the larger one provides up to 682 km.

XEV 9E

The XEV 9E is the larger SUV with a coupe-like design. Mahindra offers three large 12.30-inch screens on the dashboard, which they call the “Cinemascope Cockpit.” It also comes with rear-seat entertainment screens as an optional extra. It gets VisionX Augmented Reality HUD, MAIA (Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture), seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and more.

It uses the same 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs as the BE 6. Both SUVs are currently offered in RWD configurations. The dual-motor AWD setup is likely to be introduced at a later stage. The price for the XEV 9E starts at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹30.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
