As bad as it is, robberies are common in India. However, generally, these robbers arrive during the night in order to avoid coming into contact with other people. In recent times, however, these robbers have become a lot more daring. Recently, an unfortunate daylight robbery proved this. A video showing a number of robbers and goons arriving in three different cars to rob a gold trader of 2.63 kg of gold has been shared online. These robbers executed this robbery in broad daylight on a busy national highway.

The video of this daylight robbery has been shared on Instagram by On Manorama on their page. This short video clip starts with dashcam footage from a bus or truck. It can be noted that a grey-colored Maruti Suzuki Dzire passed the vehicle with the dashcam. Soon after, it was followed by a blacked-out Renault Triber MPV.
Also, this Triber was being followed by a type 4 Toyota Innova MPV. We can note that after the cars passed, they all stopped at a diversion where a bridge was under construction. At this point, the three-lane highway merged into a single lane. This made it very easy for the robbers to block the vehicle of the Thrissur-based gold trader. It can be noted from the video that the Dzire of the gold trader was blocked by another Toyota Innova MPV, which was at the front. Following this blockage, we can note that a number of men came out of these three vehicles, and a few of them opened the gate of the Dzire, after which they robbed the Dzire’s owner.
Soon after, all of the accused sat inside their cars and started driving ahead. It can be noted that the two Innovas and a Renault Triber, along with the gold trader’s Dzire, were heading in the same direction. We can also observe that no other vehicle drivers attempted to intervene.
Details of this daylight robbery
As per the reports, this incident took place on National Highway 544 in Peechi. It happened at Kallidukku, which comes within Thrissur’s limits. Reportedly, this incident took place at around 11:15 AM on September 22nd.
The victim has been reported to be Arun Sunny. He is a 40-year-old gold trader who resides in Chembukkavu village in Thrissur. Sunny was driving from Coimbatore to Thrissur in his Dzire with his friend Rojy Thomas. As per the reports, Sunny and Thomas were both assaulted by team of 12 robbers.
Sunny, in his report, mentions that they came with hammers and axes. He added that they used the hammer to assault him and his friend. Following this, these men managed to find the 2.63 kg of gold jewelry, valued at Rs 1.84 crore, which was kept inside a hidden safe in the car.
It was elaborated that these robbers then forced them to enter their cars, following which a few robbers drove their Dzire. After this, they first abandoned Sunny’s Dzire in a random location, and then they dumped Sunny and Thomas in two different locations.
Have these robbers been arrested?
At the moment, the police authorities have stated that they are investigating the matter. As per the reports, no arrests have been made, and neither has the gold been recovered. From the video, it can be noted that the cars were seen with standard registration numbers. Whether these numbers belonged to these cars or not has not been reported.
