Drunk drivers acting stupid and causing inconvenience for the public isn’t a rare sight in India. We have over the years, seen several such incidents. This recent one is from Rajasthan. A drunk Scorpio driver blocked a bus intentionally and caused inconvenience to all its passengers. The enraged crowd soon beat up the Scorpio driver. Someone captured the entire drama on video and shared it on the internet.
The video starts by showing a Black Scorpio driving in front of a bus on the fast lane. It is, however, going too slow, causing the bus to slow down as well. The passengers can be heard saying that the SUV is causing inconvenience on purpose and that the driver is drunk.
A few seconds into the video, you see the bus forcefully overtake the Scorpio and make it come to a stop. The passengers, angry by the inconvenience caused, rush to the SUV, yell at the driver and pull him out of the vehicle. The Scorpio tries to flee. But the passengers stop it from doing so, shout at and beat him up.
Alcohol consumption slows down senses and increases response times. Overuse could easily get the driver delusional as well. All these are extremely dangerous on public roads.
While drunk driving can cause serious damage to lives and assets, this incident thankfully had just public nuisance as its outcome. In a previous incident of drunken driving, we saw a truck ramming into a series of vehicles, driving through the wrong side. The dash camera recording from a Tata Nexon that was involved in the crash shows how dangerous it was and how much of a close call the man on the motorcycle and his baby had, as the truck hit their bike. The other vehicles involved in the accident were a Mahindra Scorpio and Skoda Kodiaq.
In an even more bizarre incident, an intoxicated Nissan Sunny driver unleashed chaos in Alappuzha, Kerala, where he continued to drive even after the left front wheel of his car fell off. In a video that’s being circulated, Deepan Nair, the accused, is seen driving normally at first.
A closer look reveals that his car is missing one of the front wheels. The fender has also taken damage, suggestive of a previous crash. The Sunny is in fact a self-drive rental car. Due to his intoxication, the driver couldn’t have taken note of the missing wheel, nor did he try to stop. Locals and cops tried to stop him. But the driver continued to do rampage and caused injuries to 11 people. Interestingly, Deepan drove the car for around 23 km without the wheel.
In a third incident, a drunk Maruti Alto driver from Kerala drove his car recklessly on public roads under the influence of alcohol. He is barely able to keep the car in the lane. He overtakes aggressively and in an unsafe way. While negotiating a sharp curve, it tends to slide off the road. This made the driver undertake a frantic try to get control of the vehicle back. While negotiating another curve a couple of meters ahead, he loses it completely and the car undergoes a complete 360-degree spin. It soon ended up on the other side of the road. The incident did not get anyone hurt, but shows how scary things can get when the driver is drunk or intoxicated in some way.
