Drunk Truck Driver On Wrong Side Vs Tata Nexon, Mahindra Scorpio, Skoda Kodiaq [Video]

Road accidents have recently been on the rise in India. Many a time, these are caused by drunk and reckless driving. A recent incident shows a drunk truck driver ramming into a series of vehicles- Nexon, Scorpio and Kodiaq. A video shared by ‘Mumbai Nexonites official’ on social media recently, shows the dashcam recording of the same.

The visuals show the Nexon (with the dash camera installed) negotiating through tight traffic on a busy Mumbai road. He is soon confronted by a traffic jam. Just the left lane allows movement. There is a motorcycle in front of the Nexon, which is further preceded by a White Scorpio. There is a Skoda Kodiaq following the Nexon.

The recording soon shows the vehicles coming to a halt. Soon you get to see that a tanker is coming in the opposite direction ( illegal of course), against the Scorpio and Nexon. It has its headlamps on. The tanker continues to approach the Scorpio with no intention of braking. It hits the SUV and continues to move ahead pushing it along. The motorcycle rider senses the approaching danger and quickly makes a flee.

The Scorpio runs over the motorcycle ( a Pulsar) and causes significant damage to it. It also makes contact with the Tata Nexon and even hits the Kodiaq before coming to a complete halt.

The motorcyclist seems to be carrying an infant at the time of this incident. The drunk driver could have caused much harm to the newborn which luckily did not happen.

The tanker was carrying 17 tons of highly inflammable liquid (gas) and the vehicle overturning could have led to bigger damages. Luckily no people were hurt in this incident. However, all four vehicles involved suffered major damage. Considering its gravity, the authorities should take strict action against the tanker driver.

Another thing worth mentioning here is the build qualities of the SUVs involved. The Nexon, Scorpio, and Kodiaq are all known for their sturdy builds. The Nexon even holds a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating. As shown in the video, just minor dents and damage were caused to it.

The Kodiaq too is a safe vehicle. The latest generation ( which is also India-bound) recently scored 5 stars in Euro NCAP safety tests. Despite it getting dragged along and thrashed into other vehicles, the damages caused to the Scorpio too are relatively less.

Careless Truck Drivers Are Everywhere

This is not the first time that we get to see careless truck drivers causing accidents. Previously, a truck that was carelessly entering a road had caused bikers to crash into it.

Two bikers were riding at normal speeds on mountain roads when they saw the truck randomly making an entry, from the left side. Its driver did not pay attention to the oncoming traffic and made the motorcycles to attempt panic braking.

However, one of them did it a bit too hard and lost control. The rear wheel lifted off and it became a stoppie done wrong. In the next few moments, he crashed into the truck and fell under it. The bike got stuck on the wheel. The other biker rushed to the rescue.

Since both riders were properly geared up, no loss of lives was recorded, even though there were injuries. The details of its severity are unknown.
