Be it cars or two-wheelers- we often come across instances of automotive thefts and robberies. People lose their prized motorcycles and cars to random thieves in many parts of the country. A recent instance from Jalandhar, Punjab, however, shows a failed theft attempt. The CCTV recording of the incident was shared online, sparking a hot discussion.

The Incident

The visuals are from the Jalandhar Lamba Pind area. The time is around 12:30 am. They show a Toyota Innova and a scooter parked near a house. What looks like a Bajaj Pulsar is also parked nearby. Soon, a man in a White T-shirt can be seen walking down the road. He soon turns to the Pulsar, goes near it and tries to unlock it with a key. At this point, he is unaware of the presence of a CCTV keeping watch on him.

For some reason, he is unable to get the motorcycle unlocked and decides to make a leave. Just as he is seen walking past, the owner comes out of the house and follows him. He doesn’t try to run. The owner thrashes him and drags the thief back to near the parked motorcycle. He is seen kicking and beating him up further in the video. Akashdeep Singh, the owner, said that he had come to visit his relatives in Jalandhar, from Nakodar, when this incident occurred.

We don’t know what happened afterwards. The owner should have handed him over to the cops. This thief seems to have paid the highest price for being inefficient at what he does!

The internet is actively reacting to the video. Several people said it is satisfying to watch the thief getting thrashed. Afterall, who would want to see someone loot someone else’s property? Some even call it instant justice. A user makes fun of the attitude of the thief who did not attempt to run away even after seeing the owner approach.

Another user is unhappy with the idea of beating him up. He says the thief should have been tied and kept in the house throughout the night and be taken to the farm and made to work as a cost-free labour. In a way, it sounds like a good idea.

This instance also underlines the importance of having CCTV installed at your home and office. If it were not for these visuals, people would have hardly known about this attempt. This is not the first time that we have seen these cameras turn out to be evidence in theft attempts.
