Get A Driving License From Home Without Even Going To RTO: Cop Explains How [Video]

Getting a driver’s license in India has become easier than ever. The latest move by the government has digitized the process. Now you can get your learner license without moving out of your home! All you need is a computer and an internet connection. You can use the Parivahan website to clear the tests and get your learner license. In a recent video, a cop explains the process in detail:

In India, you need a valid driving license to drive motor vehicles and most of the EVs. In the Indian system, getting a driver’s license involves 2 steps.

First, you need to get a learner license, after clearing a theory exam. With the learner license, you can drive the vehicle under the supervision of someone who already holds a valid driver’s license.

To get a permanent driving license, you need to clear a few practical tests and road tests. These tests vary between two-wheelers and four-wheelers. You need to attend additional orientation and awareness sessions, to qualify in some states.

The video explains how the Parivahan website can be used to apply for and get the learner license, without any hassle. Cases have been reported in many places, where people had to offer bribes to get their driving licenses issued. The Parivahan-based system adds precision and transparency to the process and eliminates any scope for such incidents.

So how do you get this done? Do the following to get your learner license issued without going to the RTO.

1. Go to the official website of Parivahan Sewa. 
2. Click on ‘License Related Services’ and select ‘Drivers/Learners License.’
3. From the list of states provided, select your state and click on ‘Apply for Learner License.’
4. Click ‘Continue’ to proceed.
5. Complete the application form with your personal details and Adhar number.
6. Enter the OTP received.
7. Pay the driving license fee online.
8. Once the application and fee are submitted, schedule your driving license test at a time slot available on the website.
9. Take and clear the learner test online.
10. If cleared successfully, your license will be issued without any delay. You will receive it by mail and can also download it from the portal.

Another way of doing this would be by doing a Google search instead of manually inputting the website URL. Try googling ‘Parivahan’. Click on the website, and repeat the above steps. You can also log directly into the Parivahan Sarathi portal and complete the steps if you wish to have a more direct approach.

Further, to get a permanent driving license, do the following:

• Go to the official website of Parivahan Sewa.
• Click on ‘License Related Services’ and select ‘Drivers/Learners License.’
• Click on Apply for Driving License.
• Click on Continue.
• Fill up the applicant details.
• Upload the necessary documents.
• Upload photo and signature
• See available Driving test slots and select the preferred one.
• Pay the fee online.
• Verify the payment status and print the receipt if needed.

Slight changes in the process might be applicable in certain states. The Parivahan site also has all the forms that you might need at various points in the application process. You can download and edit them using a PDF editor, or take printouts if you prefer offline application. While the online way of doing this might sound interesting, it needs to be noted that the website could, sometimes deliver delays or similar usability issues.
