The Hummer EV is getting huge acceptance in India. Content with this massive electric SUV is going viral on platforms like Instagram and YouTube and the affluent are already adding the electric Hummer to their garages. A recent video shows a right hand drive (RHD) Hummer EV getting home delivered to its new owner. Samrat Warma, a successful industrialist, has become the first Indian to own an Orange Hummer EV.

The video starts by showing him arriving in a White Toyota Vellfire MPV. Then he goes and takes a bow before a memorial that reads Satyanarayanan Warma. Soon, a truck arrives and two cranes are used to get its container onto the ground. The shipment here is a brand new Hummer EV wearing Orange paint. In the shots that follow, the industrialist is seen unwrapping the car and checking it out.
The Hummer EV: More Details About It
The Hummer EV is a super heavy electric SUV/ pickup truck ( Yes, there are both versions to it) and a resurrection that does justice to the original nameplate. We remember seeing the headline of MotorTrend’s review of the electric Hummer that read ‘Imperfect but Badass as Hell’. This is exactly what this SUV is!
GMC has reimagined the Hummer into an electric vehicle so well that even the EV-haters might end up liking it. Weighing over 5 tons, it is one of the heaviest passenger vehicles on sale. It has a recognizable and loud design. The boxy silhouette and aggressive stance are both likeable. Other key design highlights are a bold grille, angular headlights, and a muscular body. The SUV version even gets a slightly sloping roofline and an integrated roof rack.
The cabin has a futuristic design and packs ample features and technology. There is a large central touchscreen with smartphone connectivity. The seats are large, comfortable and offer good support. The overall experience inside is likeable.
Powering the Hummer EV is a tri-motor setup which can produce up to 1000 hp and 15590 Nm of torque on top trims. These can do the 0-100 kph sprint in under 3 seconds! Despite this exhilerating performance and the high vehicle weight, this SUV is claimed to deliver a range of 480–613 km, depending on the variant and driving modes chosen.
GMC has further given the vehicles specialised driving modes to experience its true capabilities. There is something called ‘Watts to Freedom’ mode which lets you unleash the mountain of torque that this vehicle packs and get a taste of its brutal acceleration. When it is engaged, the driver gets to experience curated sounds, animations, and haptic feedback- all of which give him the ‘You’re driving an EV’ feeling.
The electric SUV also gets the Super Cruise- which uses the ADAS equipment onboard and GPS-based data to deliver a hands-free driving experience. When engaged on compatible highways, it uses GPS, cameras, sensors, and LiDAR to create a digital picture of the car’s surroundings. The vehicle computes based on this data and drives on its own. This is not a fully autonomous mode though.
Another interesting feature is the Crabwalk which lets you drive diagonally, making it easier to navigate tight spaces and bumper-to bumper scenarios easily. It is also useful in certain off-road conditions as well.
