India is a land that could stun you with its flavourful car replicas. We have seen several crazy conversions and replicas over the years. From building Lamborghinis out of Civics to turning Ford Endeavour into Hummer H2, there are too many of them. Here’s another one to add to the list: a Hyundai Accent from Jaipur that has been modified to look like a Ferrari F430. This project car was built in the year 2020.
The donor car here is a 2009 Hyundai Accent. It now looks a lot like a 2009 Ferrari F430. For this garage to do a conversion, the donor car has to ideally be supplied by the owner. They are ready to do the shopping themselves, but it is preferred to have it supplied.
It looks like a neat job from the front. The finish and attention to detail in the headlamps, bonnet and bumpers are decent. Many parts including the bumper are handcrafted. The car gets metal bumpers so that the rather low ground clearance doesn’t rip it off often.
Coming to the side, the ORVMs look like those on a Ferrari. A neat work has been done to mould the body lines, surfaces, and faux air scoops. At the rear, the circular tail lamps look like those on the 430. The tailgate design, diffuser and boot lip spoiler are all built nicely. There are multiple Ferrari badges as well.
The interior gets changes as well. The seats get a new Red upholstery, and the same can be seen on the steering wheel and gear knob. The steering gets an oversized Ferrari logo that looks odd. The centre console now has three air vents. The maker says this is inspired by the OG 430 as well.
The interesting thing about this project is that it was originally converted into a 430 Spyder with a convertible roof. As the car was being rented out for photo and video shoots, customers found it better to have it as a four-seater. Taking this into account, the garage removed the convertible roof and made it an open-top replica, with seating for five, which can be used by people for photo and video shoots.
The platform and other mechanicals come from the Accent. The 1.5L four-cylinder petrol engine produces around 95 bhp and 141 Nm. The suspension has also been borrowed without major reworks. The video also has the vehicle’s exhaust soundtrack. It sounds a bit too raspy, but is good enough to turn heads.
The cost of conversion is less than 10 lakh, whereas back in its day, the 430 used to cost around 4.5 crores. The garage has put this car for sale, with an asking price of 6 lakh. India currently has a market for such replicas. Small and medium-scale companies rent these out as movie, wedding and other event props. A day’s rent usually falls in the range of Rs 25,000-30,000.
Ford Endeavour Converted Into Hummer H2
The man behind this 430 replica has previously built a Hummer H2 out of a Ford Endeavour. This conversion was also done for an event management company and is being given out as a prop on rent. It is being used on occasions like wedding processions.
The vehicle gets changes both on the outside and inside the cabin. The front grille has been replaced with a metal Hummer H2 grille, painted in white to match the body. The headlamps are aftermarket units and the metal front bumper has integrated fog lamps. The bonnet now has a fake scoop and the front windscreen is more upright.
The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with massive 35-inch tyres. Custom wheel arches and cladding are also added. Roof rails and marker lamps have been installed, but it’s unclear if they are functional. At the rear, the vehicle has a custom metal bumper and a rear windscreen similar to the original H2.
The interior is completely redone and now has a tan colour theme. The seats, door pads, and dashboard are wrapped in tan leather-like material. It is also fitted with AMG-style air vents, ambient lighting, and a touchscreen infotainment system. The garage has more project cars in the pipeline. We’ll have to wait before we have data on those…
