Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos And Tata Indica Go Airborne on Poorly Built Delhi-Mumbai Expressway [Video]

cars airborne on expressway

Expressways have been built by the Indian government to cut down the distances and increase the speed of travel between two locations. However, despite investing thousands of crores, the condition of these expressways on some patches is very poor. Recently, one such portion of an expressway has been shared on the internet. The concerning thing about this part of the expressway is that the vehicles crossing it were becoming airborne.

This video of cars becoming airborne after crossing a section of the expressway has been shared on Instagram. It comes courtesy of Plus Drive. In this short clip, we first see a black-colored Hyundai Creta approaching a set of barricades on the expressway. What happens next is that as soon as the Creta crosses the set of barricades, it becomes airborne.

We can note that all four wheels of this mid-size SUV were in the air. After this, it falls back onto the road and keeps driving. Soon after, we can see that the same happens with a black Kia Seltos and a white Tata Indica hatchback as well. Both of them became airborne. Thankfully, both of them landed straight and did not crash.

Why were these cars flying?

From the video, it can be observed that these vehicles were becoming airborne due to an unwanted indentation in the expressway. We can see that these vehicles, which were being driven at decently high speeds, did not notice the indentation. Due to this, they drove over it, and the speed caused the vehicles to leave the ground.

Extremely dangerous expressway

This particular video, which is from the Mumbai-Delhi expressway, has received a lot of views on the internet, and netizens have been sharing their comments on the post. They have been stating that this is extremely dangerous and can cause a huge accident. They mentioned that this could cause unaware drivers to suffer from a horrific flip, which could even result in fatalities.

Many netizens also complained that this is especially a huge problem since the government has already spent thousands of crores of tax money on these expressways. They added that despite this, they still cannot provide problem-free roads to the citizens.

On the other hand, some netizens were also stating that it was the fault of the drivers. They mentioned that when you see barricades on the expressway or any road for that matter, the speed of the vehicle should be reduced. They added that these drivers should have slowed down their vehicles in time.

Response from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways

So far, this video has been shared over 1.5 lakh times on social media and has received millions of views. However, despite this reach, no response has been received from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Most likely, we will never get to know if this particular patch of the expressway has been repaired or not.

Lack of accountability

The lack of accountability is a huge problem in India. Each and every taxpayer asks the question of who is responsible for such poor conditions of our roads. The answer to this is never given by the government or any authority. In most cases, these questions are deflected and not answered. Even if they are answered, it mostly ends up with someone getting blamed. In the end, no result becomes evident.
