Mahindra recently launched their born-electric SUVs, BE 6 and XEV 9E. Both these SUVs have started reaching dealerships across the country, and official bookings along with deliveries are expected to happen in January and February. Both BE 6 and XEV 9E are definitely unique in terms of styling and features. These SUVs are very close to the concepts showcased by the brand a year ago. Mahindra also showcased an off-road version of the BE 6 called the RALL-E. Here’s how the off-road version differs from the BE 6.
Mahindra showcased the RALL-E concept at the Mahindra EV Fashion Festival. The exterior design of the electric SUV is similar to that of the BE 6. However, the manufacturer has made necessary changes to differentiate it from the standard BE 6. As mentioned earlier, this is the off-road spec version, so it looks a bit more rugged and butch to justify the off-road look.
The concept was revealed in a Neon Green or Yellow shade. We are unsure if Mahindra will offer this shade in the production version, but it was definitely a color that would attract attention on the road. The LED DRL design is different—it gets a sleek DRL paired with a large round headlamp on the bumper.
We also see a proper off-road spec bumper along with a skid plate and an orange tow hook. As this is an SUV designed for off-road use, Mahindra has slightly modified it. The new bumpers are part of these modifications. Other than the bumper and skid plate, the SUV also gets chunky off-road spec tires.
The alloy wheels are missing on this version, as steel rims better suit the overall character of the EV. With all these modifications, the ground clearance of the SUV has also increased. Mahindra has also added a roof rack to carry spare wheels and other off-road equipment.
Since the RALL-E concept SUV is meant for off-road adventures, Mahindra will offer the SUV with a dual-motor setup. Currently, Mahindra has only launched the RWD versions of both the BE 6 and XEV 9E. Being an SUV manufacturer, Mahindra is likely to offer an AWD system in these electric SUVs in the near future.
The same AWD system or the dual-motor setup will be offered in the RALL-E as well. In addition to the AWD system, Mahindra will include electronic aids such as Hill Descent Control, MLD, and BLD to enhance overall performance.
The Mahindra BE 6 is based on the manufacturer’s INGLO platform. The RALL-E is also based on the same platform and shares components with the regular SUV. Regarding range, the Mahindra BE 6 is offered with two battery pack options: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The smaller battery pack offers a claimed driving range of 535 km, while the larger one provides up to 682 km.
The RALL-E concept is also expected to get the same battery pack options. As mentioned earlier, the RALL-E is a concept based on the BE 6. The SUV was revealed to the public to showcase the technology and features that Mahindra can offer. It is highly unlikely that the RALL-E concept will ever enter production.
