The Land Rover Defender is currently one of the most expensive and capable off-road SUVs in India. However, this does not mean that any person can perform flawless off-roading with it. Recently, showing how one such capable SUV can still get stuck, a video has been shared online. What’s more interesting about this video is that this particular Land Rover Defender, worth Rs 1.5 crore, was rescued by a Mahindra Thar, which costs a fraction of its price.
Mahindra Thar rescues Land Rover Defender
This video of the Mahindra Thar rescuing a Land Rover Defender has been shared on YouTube. It comes courtesy of Madrasi Vlogs. In this video, the vlogger highlights their Defender 110 got stuck on a beach while performing off-roading. It can be seen that this SUV was stuck while trying to go up a small obstacle on the sandy terrain.
Following this, the vlogger and his friend bring a Mahindra Thar for the rescue of this Defender. They first assess the situation. After this, they attach the tow hook of the Defender to its bumper. Next up, they go to the Thar, bring out the metal chain, and attach it to the tow hook of the Defender.
What happened next?
Next up, they bring the Mahindra Thar and attach the other end of the metal chain. Now, before pulling the Defender with the Thar, the vlogger and his friend first remove some of the sand from behind the rear tires of the SUV. They did this with their bare hands, and it was done to make it easier for the vehicle to come out.
After this, the Mahindra Thar’s 4X4 low gear is engaged, and it starts pulling the Land Rover Defender. However, in the beginning, it can be seen that the Thar was also getting deeper into the loose sand. However, after some more pulling, it successfully managed to pull out the stuck Defender.
Lesson to be learned
From this video, the main lesson to be learned is that no matter how capable an off-road vehicle is, if the person who is behind the steering wheel is not capable, the vehicle will get stuck at some point. Additionally, the second important lesson is that there should always be a recovery vehicle.
When going on an off-road adventure, try to go with a group or with a partner in a different car. The primary reason is that even if one of the two vehicles gets stuck, you can take the help of the other vehicle to rescue the one stuck, just as showcased in the above incident.
