Mahindra launched its all-new 5-door SUV, the Thar Roxx, earlier this year. The official launch of the SUV has taken place, and deliveries have also begun. As usual, Mahindra surprised everyone with the pricing of the Thar Roxx. Since deliveries started, we’ve begun seeing videos of Roxx modifications online. Here, we have a set of viral images on the internet showing a major crash of a Mahindra Thar Roxx.
The video was shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. The images were likely sent to him by one of his subscribers. The registration number of the Thar Roxx shown here is from Gujarat, and we assume the accident occurred somewhere in that state. The video doesn’t describe exactly how the accident happened.
The front end of the Mahindra Thar Roxx is completely damaged, and it looks like a high-speed crash. The center of the front grille is caved in, indicating the SUV may have been involved in a high-speed collision. The bonnet, headlamps, front grille, bumper, and radiator are all damaged in the crash.
Not just the front end, but the alloy wheels (both left and right) at the front are also damaged, and there are several dents and scratches on the left side of the vehicle. The video mentions that the SUV is damaged beyond repair, and the insurance company has declared it a total loss. It’s unclear if the car belongs to a customer or was part of a dealership’s test fleet.
Regardless of the cause, it’s sad to see. This is likely the first major crash video or image of the Mahindra Thar Roxx on the internet. The video also suggests that, for some reason, Mahindra wanted to keep this crash a secret. However, the authenticity of this claim is uncertain.
It appears that the Roxx absorbed the impact well. The front of the SUV took the hit without causing much damage to the cabin. The airbags deployed on time, which is a huge relief. We hope the occupants in the vehicle escaped without major injuries. The Mahindra Thar Roxx comes with several premium features, including ADAS Level 2.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx has yet to undergo an official crash test, and we hope it performs well, like other SUVs from the manufacturer. The higher variants of the Mahindra Thar Roxx offer features like a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, seat ventilation for front passengers, a multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, a fully digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment screen, and more.
The Roxx is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel version is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged engine, while the petrol version uses a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged unit. Both petrol and diesel options are available with manual and automatic transmissions. Only the diesel version of the Thar Roxx offers a 4×4 option.
People are appreciating the Thar Roxx as it is much more practical, spacious than the regular 3-door Thar. Prices for a brand new Mahindra Thar Roxx start at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 22.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
