Mahindra Thar Roxx Vs Jeep Wrangler Rubicon: Off Road Performance Compared [Video]

Ever since the Mahindra Thar Roxx was launched, people have been constantly comparing it with the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Both of these SUVs, although they look very similar from a distance, are very different. Recently, showing how these two SUVs compete in different leagues, a video was shared online. In the same video, a light off-roading comparison of the two SUVs was also shown.

This video comparing the Mahindra Thar Roxx with the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was shared on YouTube by Small Town Rider on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger taking his Mahindra Bolero 4X4 and his friends with their Thar Roxx and Wrangler Rubicon to an open ground. After this, he gives a basic introduction to the two off-roaders.

Mahindra Thar Roxx vs. Jeep Wrangler Rubicon: Comparison

During the introduction, the vlogger starts by stating that many people were claiming that when the Thar Roxx was launched, it affected the sales of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. However, he explains that this is not true, as both of these SUVs cater to different people and segments.

Following this, he starts talking about the pricing of the two SUVs. He mentions that the Thar Roxx in the video is the top-of-the-line AX7L 4X4 automatic variant. Meanwhile, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is also the more expensive variant of the two offered in the Wrangler lineup in India.

He adds that the Thar Roxx is priced at Rs 26 lakh on-road in Jammu. On the other hand, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is priced at Rs 80 lakh. Next, he starts comparing the exterior designs of the SUVs. The vlogger states that although people who know about cars can differentiate between the two, it will become harder for any normal person to know which one is more expensive.

In the comparison, he starts at the front and states that both SUVs look very similar. However, the Wrangler Rubicon is slightly wider than the Thar Roxx. He highlights that the difference is very minor, but it can be noticed by those who are looking for it. Next, he compares the side profile and then the rear end.

Off-Roading Equipment Differences

Following the exterior design differences, the vlogger starts talking about the off-roading equipment offered in the Thar Roxx and the Wrangler Rubicon. He mentions that the Thar Roxx comes equipped with Intelliturn and Smart Crawl Assist. However, both of these are missing on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The Roxx also gets rear locking differentials.

Meanwhile, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, on the other hand, is offered with both front and rear mechanical locking differentials. It also gets sway bars, which can be disconnected to increase the articulation of the wheels.

Off-Road Comparison

Finally, after talking about the specifications, the vlogger compares the off-roading capabilities. He first asks the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon driver to cross over a hump on the ground in 4X2 mode. However, it is unable to do so, after which he asks the owner to put the SUV in 4X4 high, and this time around, it does so with much ease.

After this, he asks the Thar Roxx owner to do the same. This time around as well, the Thar Roxx could not cross the bump in 4X2 mode. So, the owner engages the 4X4 mode, and it can be seen that it crosses the bump. However, it was struggling slightly when compared to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
