Mahindra Uses Mumbai's Potholed Roads As Test Track To Show Off Thar ROXX's Suspension

Mahindra is one of the popular SUV manufacturers in the country. While they launched their futuristic EVs, BE6 and XUV 9E, they still sell a range of ICE vehicles. One of the popular models that Mahindra launched last year was the Thar Roxx. A detailed first drive review of the Roxx is available on our website and YouTube channel too. Marketing plays a crucial role in the success of a product, and Mahindra, with its new initiative, is trying to prove the same. It is actually giving customers a chance to drive the Thar Roxx through pothole-filled roads to show off the SUV’s capabilities.
The video has been shared by Mahindra on their Instagram page. This is actually a new campaign that Mahindra has started to show off how the suspension of the Mahindra Thar Roxx behaves against potholes. Mahindra is calling this “THE TEST DRIVE for 'THE' SUV.” It is currently curated for customers in Mumbai, which is one of the biggest cities in the world.
It is also a city with the highest number of potholes. Mahindra mentioned that Mumbai city has over 59,000 potholes. There is a pothole every 5 km. This affects the driving style, damages vehicles, and causes congestion on the road.
This is why people are switching to cars with higher ground clearance. The manufacturer mentions that the Mahindra Thar Roxx is a perfect car to be used in these conditions. Mahindra calls the roads of Mumbai the perfect track to test the Thar’s capabilities.
Mahindra is calling customers to join the campaign and take a test drive so that they can drive the car through all the potholes in the city. They have reimagined the roads with potholes as obstacle courses and want to see how the customers react after driving the SUV through them.
The campaign has started in Mumbai and is likely to be extended to other cities in the future. In this video, we see how people are driving the SUV through the potholes without slowing down much. Hopefully, this campaign is an eye opener for the authorities and they soon start working on fixing the potholes.
The Roxx offers independent double wishbone front suspension and a rigid axle with a multi-link rear suspension. This comes with Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD) and Multi-Tuning Valve-Concentric Land (MTV-CL) dampers, which aim to improve ride quality and handling of the vehicle.
This means the SUV can perform well both on and off the road. The Mahindra Thar Roxx is actually based on the same platform as the Scorpio N. It is a 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar, which is a popular 4x4 SUV in the country. The Mahindra Thar Roxx is an SUV that is aimed at people who are looking for a premium SUV that doesn’t compromise on rugged looks.
Just like the Thar, the Roxx gets a boxy, utilitarian design but it offers features like premium leatherette upholstery, seat ventilation, electrically adjustable seats, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, Level 2 ADAS, and so on. It is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.
The petrol uses a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged engine, while the diesel uses a 2.2-litre mHawk turbocharged engine. Both these engines are available with manual and automatic transmissions, and only certain variants of the diesel version get 4x4 as an option.
