Man ‘Relaxes’ On National Highway As Cars Speed By At 100 Kmph [Video]

Man relaxing on highway

If you are a person who has been driving on Indian roads, you already know that our roads are full of surprises. You never know what might come in front of your vehicle. We have seen several videos in the past where wrong-side driving has caused accidents and, in some cases, deaths. We have also seen people commit scams to extort money from road users. Here, we have a video that shows a man sleeping on a national highway as cars pass by at 100 kmph.

The video has been shared by Nikhil Rana on his YouTube channel. The video was shared with him by one of his followers. The exact location where this happened is not known. The video was recorded on the dashcam of a car passing through the national highway. The six-lane highway was quite wide, and it was busy too.

The dashcam car overtakes slow-moving vehicles on the left lane, and after overtaking, we see a slight right curve on the highway. The car was maintaining a high speed, and right after the curve, we see a man lying on the extreme left lane of the highway. It looked like he was relaxing in the middle of the road.

The dashcam car driver saw that but didn’t slow down or stop to check what happened. There are a couple of guesses as to why he didn’t slow down or stop. There is a high possibility that this was part of a scam. There have been incidents where people block vehicles or jump in front of them and play the victim to extort money from drivers.

This has happened several times, and at times, even dashcam videos are of no use as the authorities are not willing to listen. Lying on the road is extremely dangerous, especially on a highway with a speed limit of 100 kmph. The person was lying on the left lane, but that doesn’t make it right by any means.

The person could still get hit by vehicles or, in the worst case, become the reason for a multi-vehicle collision. A speeding driver coming in this lane might be taken by surprise and apply the brakes hard.

There is a possibility that the driver could lose control of the vehicle and end up hitting the person or other innocent road users.

Other vehicles coming from the rear would be completely unaware of the situation and could also end up crashing into the vehicle ahead. It is because of these surprises on our roads that we recommend everyone install a dashcam in their vehicles. This way, you at least have proof to show the concerned authorities to prove your innocence.

Dashcams act as evidence, especially if your vehicle is involved in a crash. They also help with insurance claims. Dashcams are mandatory in many foreign countries, and with the rise in road rage cases in India, people have started installing them here as well. Also drive carefully and always stay alert on Indian roads. Its not just the stray cattle and dogs that pose a threat to motorist but also human.
