India is a vast country, and people here generally learn to drive cars from either their parents, siblings, or driving schools, which have specialized cars. In most of the driving schools around us, we see cars like small hatchbacks, including WagonRs, Altos, and other budget-friendly cars that can be easily and cheaply repaired. However, in the southern state of Kerala, people do things differently. Recently, we came across a video in which a driving school was using a Maruti Suzuki Jimny to teach driving.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny Being Used to Teach Driving
This video, showing a Maruti Suzuki Jimny being used as a learner’s vehicle, has been shared on Instagram by us. We can note that there is a bluish-black Jimny on a busy road. On top of this Jimny, there is a board that says “Mother Mary Motor Driving School.” Whether someone is actually learning to drive the car during the shoot of this video is unknown.
Also, there is no information on whether this particular Jimny has been fitted with an additional set of clutch and brake on the passenger side of the vehicle, which is generally the case with learner’s cars. It also has to be noted that this Jimny is not wearing a yellow number plate, which is a requirement for driving schools in India.
Cars used by driving schools are used for teaching and earning revenue; hence, they fall under the commercial vehicle category. So, cars used by these schools are seen with yellow and black number plates. Most likely, this particular Jimny is being used as a marketing tool by the company to attract more customers.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is a very capable off-road SUV, and it is offered in India with a single engine option. It comes powered by a 1.5-litre engine that produces 105 bhp and 134 Nm of torque.
This engine comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The car also features Maruti Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD tech as standard across all variants.

Yes, we understand that seeing people learn to drive in a Maruti Suzuki Jimny 4X4 is a unique spectacle. However, what is even more interesting is seeing people learn to drive in a BMW X3 luxury SUV. Yes, we are not kidding. A while ago, a video was shared online in which a driving school was using an older-generation BMW X3 SUV to teach driving.
This particular vehicle was spotted by a person on the roads of Thiruvananthapuram. It was noted that a white BMW X3 with a board on top and the name of the driving school on the side was being driven by a student driver on the busy road.
Importance of Cars in Marketing
When cars were not that common on roads, they were seen as luxury commodities. Then, when they started becoming common, they were seen as means of transport to take people from point A to point B. However, as times are changing, people are now realizing that cars can be an excellent marketing tool.
People today are wrapping their cars or stickering them with the names of their businesses to help with promotion. People are now also using their cars to promote their social media handles as well. For this, they add the name of their channel or page on the vehicle, which invokes curiosity among people on the road and helps them increase their following.
