Legendary cricketer Matthew Hayden is Mahindra’s brand ambassador in Australia. With the Indian manufacturer having an extensive focus on overseas sales, especially in markets like Australia, it is important to have highly influential brand faces like him. The cricketer himself owns a Mahindra Scorpio-N (sold in Australia as the ‘Scorpio’). In fact, he’s been keeping it ‘stock’ for almost 12 months, before finally deciding to upgrade to the ‘Black Edition’. Watch him explain the details of the Black edition Scorpio in this video shared by Mahindra on YouTube.

Hayden’s Scorpio now gets 18-inch Black alloy wheels which look great on the SUV. The video shows the stock wheels being upgraded to these. He says he intends to upgrade to full-blown off-road rubber soon, as the vehicle currently runs on stock tyres. He also shows the 3D mats, side steps and roof racks- all finished in Black. He further explains how strong the side steps are and how useful they can be in real life.

He says the towbar kit is of great use in moving around with his tiny home on wheels or a motor boat. “If I’ve got a tiny, that’s gotta cancel I having a caravan” says the cricketer. He also has plans of installing a nudge bar at the front, probably with aux lamps.

The SUV’s official accessory range for Australia has both a nudge bar and a bull bar with a hoop design. It remains to be seen which of these would find a place on the cricketer’s vehicle. He has also revealed intentions of converting his Scorpio into a thorough-bred off-road machine.

What Is The Scorpio Black Edition?

As a matter of fact, the Black edition was originally created to sell off all MY 2023 stock. Launched early this month, this limited edition adds accessories and equipment worth $3000 to the entry-level Z8 variant. In addition to the standard features, tech and equipment offered on the Z8, things like 18-inch alloy wheels, side steps, roof racks, and 3D floor mats are also added. All these are finished in Black. The interior also has a dark theme to it.

The Black edition Scorpio has a drive-away price of $41,990- the same as the standard Z8 variant. Mahindra seems to have converted the offers and discounts into an accessory package, doing which on the regular car would make it a Black Edition. At its price, the Black Edition Scorpio seems to deliver great value.
