Over the last few years, the number of hit-and-run cases in India has been on a steady rise. People who cause accidents on the road try to flee the scene to avoid getting arrested. However, recently, one such Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV driver tried to run away from an accident he caused, but his attempt was stopped. The video showing the brave crowd putting two-wheelers in front of the fleeing Mercedes-Benz SUV has been shared on the internet. This incident took place in Bandra, Mumbai.
Mercedes-Benz SUV Driver Attempts Hit-and-Run
This video, showing the reckless Mercedes-Benz SUV driver trying to flee the scene of the accident, has been shared on Facebook by Bandra Buzz. The clip starts with the cameraman showing a white-colored Honda City sedan completely shoved into a pole. We also note that there was an EV scooter stuck between the Honda City and the pole.
Soon after this, the camera points towards a Mercedes-Benz GLC 300d coupe SUV. It can be noted that this SUV’s driver was trying to flee the scene of the accident. We can see that the front end of the Mercedes was damaged. Additionally, two electric scooters were in front of the Mercedes-Benz SUV.
Despite these two-wheelers completely blocking the SUV, the driver continued to push the accelerator. It was noted that he was dragging the two-wheelers. In the meantime, all the people standing around the car were shouting at him and trying to stop him. It can also be observed that all the windows of his Mercedes-Benz were smashed.
What Actually Happened?
As per the reports, this incident took place on September 15th at Pali Pathar on Dr. Ambedkar Road in Bandra, Mumbai. It has been stated that the driver of this Mercedes-Benz GLC 300d coupe SUV was driving the vehicle at a high speed, after which he crashed into the white Honda City, which was parked on the road.
Following this, the SUV driver was confronted by the people present at the spot. However, instead of coming out of the vehicle and taking responsibility for the accident, the Mercedes driver attempted to flee the situation. To do this, he started reversing his SUV, forcing the people trying to stop him to step aside.
In the meantime, one person from the crowd daringly put a two-wheeler in front of the SUV as it was trying to flee. This is when the driver’s attempt to run away from the situation failed. During this standoff, the angry crowd, in order to stop the driver, started breaking all the windows of his expensive Mercedes-Benz GLC 300d coupe SUV.
Has the Driver Been Caught?
According to reports, the locals managed to chase the Mercedes-Benz driver, and the chase finally ended at Punjab Sweet House. Following this, the police authorities arrived at the location, and a case was filed against the driver of the SUV.
It has been reported, however, that the driver has not been arrested. This is because the driver has agreed to cover the cost of repairs for the Honda City into which he crashed. Thankfully, no individual was injured during this whole fiasco.
It can be noted that the Mercedes Benz GLC 300d Coupe in the video has a registration number from Gujarat. Most likely it belongs to a wealthy individual which has managed to avoid getting arrested by the police with the help of their money and power.
