Tata Motors is often considered a name synonymous with build quality. The cars are popular among buyers for their sturdy bodies, which keep the occupants and drivers safe in case of an accident. We have come across several videos in the past where people walked away from major accidents with minor injuries.

While everyone appreciates the fact that Tata makes safe cars, there are customers who face issues with the vehicles. Many have reported problems in their brand-new vehicles, and we have covered these incidents on our website in the past. Here, we have two new instances where brand-new Tata cars were involved in accidents because of issues with the vehicles.

The video has been shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. Both of these videos were submitted by the car owners who were facing the issues. The first one is from a Tata Altroz owner. He had bought a brand-new Altroz hatchback a few months ago. He purchased the top-end version of the premium hatchback, and from the very next day, he started facing problems.

The owner was hearing weird noises whenever he pressed the clutch to shift gears. He took the car to the service center, and the technician told him it was due to an issue with the release bearing. The service center claimed they fixed the issue, but that was only the beginning.

After replacing the release bearing, the car continued to make noise, and more issues began surfacing. The car took too much time to start, and the instrument cluster was also not functioning properly. The MID showed a low fuel indication even when the car had fuel in it. He also mentioned that after filling just 16 litres, it would show a full tank.

The infotainment system also started showing glitches and would restart on its own. The owner took the car to the service center again, but they were unable to fix the problems. He wrote a detailed email to Tata Motors about the issue when he realized that the problems were not being resolved.

Four to five days after complaining, the owner was driving the car on a two-lane highway when he noticed a truck in front of him taking a turn. He decided to slow down and shift to a lower gear, but as he was trying to do so, he realized that the gear was stuck and panicked.

While trying to downshift, he probably forgot to apply the brakes—or there wasn’t enough time—and the vehicle crashed into the truck. The front of the hatchback was damaged in the accident. The owner also mentioned that the airbags did not deploy.

In another incident, the owner of a Tata Curvv SUV reported issues with his new vehicle. He bought the Curvv SUV in February this year. Since then, the car has been to the Tata service center seven to eight times. Each time, he faced a new issue.

The owner mentioned that the Curvv was showing several errors on the instrument cluster. The touchscreen infotainment system stopped working, and even the fuel level indicator wasn’t functioning properly. The car even stalled in the middle of the road a couple of times.

He shared videos where he was unable to put the car in gear and was left stranded. The car was taken to the service center, and when he complained, the staff assured him that the issues had been fixed and he wouldn’t face any more problems.

However, things weren’t that simple. After this, the owner took the Curvv on a short road trip with his family. While driving on a busy highway, he realized that the car started showing multiple errors on the screen and stalled again in the middle of the road. Although traffic wasn’t moving too fast, a truck coming from behind didn’t have enough time to react and crashed into the Curvv.

The tailgate and LED lights on the Curvv were damaged. The Curvv also rear-ended other vehicles ahead of it, which left the SUV with a damaged bonnet, welcome LED bar, and bumper.

The owner took the car to the service center and confronted the staff. He told them that it was due to the issue with the vehicle that he ended up in an accident. However, the dealership and service center were not ready to take responsibility.

The owner also mentioned that the staff misbehaved with them and were not offering any guarantee to resolve the issues. He asked the dealership to either refund the full amount or replace the car with a new one, but the dealership has not agreed to either option.

This is truly unfortunate, as Tata, as a brand, is offering several new products in the market. People are spending their life savings on new cars in the hope of a good experience. In both cases, the owners and occupants were lucky that they escaped the crash with minor or no injuries.

The owners did not have a good experience with the product and serivce, and we sincerely hope senior management comes across these issues and takes the necessary steps to resolve them.Such reports and ownership experiences will slowly drive people away from the brand if not addressed.
