Telugu Movie Star Naga Chaitanya Takes The BMW R 1250 GS For A Spin, Without A Helmet (Video)

Indian actor Naga Chaitanya has been a motorcycle enthusiast. He already owns a number of tasteful cars and motorcycles. The 38-year-old was recently spotted riding a BMW R 1250 GS on public roads, without wearing a helmet or other protective gear. A video of the same was soon shared on Instagram and is now amassing massive viewership.

The video starts by showing him walking towards the BMW motorcycle, in casual clothes, and standing next to it- apparently appreciating the machine. He then climbs on it, with the R 1250 GS still on its side stand- just the way you should, on a thorough-bred ADV.

The actor is then seen having a chat with a lady nearby and riding off. What he misses is a helmet- which we believe was deliberate. He rides through the busy roads without wearing a helmet, and people soon notice him. Naga Chaitanya seems to enjoy the attention.

The actor is being praised in the comment section. Fans seem to enjoy his success. The motorcycle in this video wears a TC (Trade Certificate) plate. It is not a temporary registration plate that you see. This brings us to the conclusion that this could be a demo/ test ride vehicle.

Chay has, however, set a bad example by riding the motorcycle without wearing a helmet. Many are voicing their concerns on the same, on various social media platforms. Being a public figure and a hugely respected individual who many look up to, he should have ideally geared up before embarking on the ride, especially when it was an on-camera stint.

Another interesting fact about this motorcycle is that it isn’t the new generation/ a brand new GS. In June this year, BMW Motorrad launched the new GS in the country- the R 1300 GS- with a bigger, more powerful engine and more tech.

While it is still unclear if the actor will buy the new R 1300 GS or not, his garage already has another BMW motorcycle in it. In 2019, he bought a swanky BMW R Nine T. This retro-styled roadster goes against the likes of Triumph Speed Twin. It draws its juice from an 1170 cc, twin-cylinder boxer engine with protruding cylinder heads- a signature element of it.

This powertrain makes 110 Ps and 116 Nm. It used to cost around Rs 17-18 lakh back in the day. The 2024 packs a bunch of differences and comes with an ex-showroom price of a little over 20 lakh rupees. (Rs. 40,000 more expensive)

The R 1300 GS has now become BMW Motorrad India’s flagship adventure motorcycle. It has its prices start at 20,95,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It comes with new colour choices and gets additional equipment when compared to the 1250 GS. The design too is considerably different. It feels more modern and upmarket now.

This motorcycle is powered by a new 1,300cc, liquid-cooled, boxer engine that produces 145bhp  and 149 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed transmission and uses shaft drive. There is more electronics on the new motorcycle, than what was being offered on the 1250.

It gets a TFT display, rider aids like ABS, traction control, four riding modes – Eco, Rain, Road, Enduro – hill start control, brake control, cruise control, and tyre pressure control. Other features include smartphone connectivity, keyless ride, heated grips, and charging slot. Honda Africa Twin and Ducati Multistrada V4 continue to be the key rivals.
