Cop Rides Without Helmet, Slaps Biker Who Questions Him, Suspended!

In India, it is mandatory for everyone riding motorcycles to wear helmets. Even the pillion should have a helmet on when the bike is on the move. A disturbing video from Nagpur, Maharashtra, is going viral on social media. It shows a police officer, who was riding without wearing his helmet, violently assaulting a man for pointing out the violation. The clip has shocked viewers and sparked anger online.

Man Questions Cop, Gets Assaulted

The one-minute video, now widely shared, shows a shocking exchange. A young biker notices the police officer riding a black Royal Enfield without wearing a helmet, on the Jaripatka road in Nagpur. He had placed his helmet on the handlebar instead of wearing it.

The biker questions the cop for the violation. The arrogant policeman, however, claims he isn’t wearing the helmet due to a toothache. He points inside his mouth to explain! He further accuses the biker of verbal abuse (which he never did!) and turns extremely aggressive. The cop then slaps the man recording the incident! As is clear from the video, the biker had just asked the cop 'Sir, why aren't you wearing your helmet?'

“When Did I Abuse You?” the Man Asks

In the video, the man firmly denies using any abusive language. He asks the officer why he’s being assaulted for simply asking a question. He also informs the cop that he is associated with a news channel.

But the officer doesn’t back down. Instead, he responds in a mocking tone: “Dal dena news channel mai aap” (Go ahead, put it on your news channel). He then accuses the man of acting like a "goon" on the road.

While being recorded, the cop finally puts on the helmet. The man then asks, “Ab kaise lagaya aapne helmet?” (How come you’re wearing the helmet now?). The officer suddenly realises the glitch and takes the helmet off, returning to his 'toothache' storyline. It is evident from the video that he was merely trying to pull off an excuse with the toothache narrative.

What Happened Next?

The biker seems to have produced the video evidence before the officials, alongside sharing it on social media. The video soon went viral and continues to draw criticism. Many question the abuse of power by law enforcement officers.

One user asked, “Will an ordinary citizen get the same excuse if they say they have a toothache?” Another commenter pointed out that such behaviour is not new. They mentioned that police officers often ignore rules themselves—whether it’s not wearing helmets, talking on the phone while driving, skipping seat belts, or even breaking traffic signals. Many praised the thoughtful actions of the biker and called him a 'responsible citizen'. The cop's action, on the other hand, was condemned by all.

Action Initiated Against The Cop

Taking the viral video and public outrage into account, higher officials have taken strict action against the officer involved. According to reports, the cop has been suspended and an investigation initiated. Furthermore, a challan has been issued in his name for riding without a helmet. The authorities have also announced mandatory soft-skills training for all cops in the zone.
