JSW MG Motor has just launched its newest all-electric vehicle, the MG Windsor EV, in India. This new model, launched at Rs 9.99 lakh, has shaken the Indian EV market. The launch event of this vehicle took place with the presence of Parth Jindal, the scion of JSW Group and owner of the Delhi Capitals cricket team. During the launch, the billionaire made a bold statement. He stated that he will be ditching his Audi e-Tron GT electric luxury sedan for his brand’s newest model, the Windsor EV.
Delhi Capitals Owner to Replace Audi e-Tron with Windsor EV
At the launch event of JSW MG Motor India’s Windsor EV, the billionaire Parth Jindal stated that he will soon be replacing his expensive German luxury car with the new Windsor EV. He mentioned that he will do it as soon as he can get one delivered from the MG showroom. Presently, Parth Jindal drives around in a Rs 2 crore Audi e-Tron GT electric luxury sedan.
He was once spotted behind the steering wheel of this superfast electric sedan from Audi in Mumbai. He was seen taking a turn on the Worli Sea Link flyover. Parth Jindal owns this electric sedan, finished in the unique shade of Daytona Grey Pearl.
Parth Jindal’s Audi e-Tron GT
The Audi e-Tron GT RS is the most powerful electric sedan that the German carmaker offers in India. It uses the same platform as the Porsche Taycan electric sedan. The e-Tron GT RS is available in two variants in India. The first is the e-Tron GT S variant, and the other is the RS.
Apart from Parth Jindal, Indian and Pakistani cricketers Virat Kohli and Babar Azam own the RS variants of this sedan. This variant of the EV sedan comes equipped with an electric motor at both the front and rear axles.
In terms of power figures, the combined power and torque outputs from the two electric motors are 637 bhp and 830 Nm. This seemingly simple sedan can shame supercars with its electric powertrain. As for the battery, this EV sedan comes equipped with an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery, which provides a maximum range of 472 km.
MG Windsor EV
As mentioned, the company just concluded the launch event of the MG Windsor EV. This brand-new crossover electric vehicle has been launched with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh. The company has launched the Windsor EV with Battery as a Service (BaaS).
Under this model, the owners of this electric vehicle own the vehicle but have to lease the battery. As for the price, MG Motor India will charge Rs 3.5 per km. This model lowers the initial purchase price of the vehicle by a lot. MG is even offering a buyback at 60 percent after three years for the battery.
The Windsor EV comes equipped with a 38 kWh battery, which offers a claimed driving range of 331 km. Most likely, this will translate to around 250 km in real-time driving. As for the powerplant, the Windsor EV comes equipped with a single electric motor, which offers a front-wheel-drive configuration. This motor generates 136 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque.
JSW MG Motor India has commenced bookings for the Windsor EV in India. It will sit between the MG Comet EV and ZS EV. MG is offering the Windsor EV in three variants, namely Excite, Exclusive, and Essence. The top-of-the-line model will come equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, automatic climate control, and a number of other premium features.
