This video of the Maruti 800 in its original condition has been shared on Instagram by B.choww on their page. It starts off with the vlogger stating that if you had a time machine and went back to the early 90s and wanted to get a quotation for the Maruti 800, this is what it would look like. Soon after this, he shows the all-original Maruti dealership's invoice for an 800.
It can be noted that this particular invoice is from Mahalaxmi Motors, a Maruti dealership from Hyderabad. The date of this particular invoice is 27 June 1990, and we can note that at the time, the ex-showroom price of the Maruti 800 was Rs 1,27,072. There were some taxes and charges of Rs 5,3822.33, Rs 24.05, and Rs 166.10 as well.
There was also the mention of amounts received by the Maruti dealership, which showed Rs 35,570.55 and Rs 99,074.45 from the original buyer of this car. The total amount at the time paid by the customer was Rs 1,34,645. Now, this amount may seem like nothing as the cheapest Maruti car, the Alto K10, today costs Rs 4.23 lakh. However, when we adjust this amount for inflation, it comes up to Rs 13,77,364.54.
Following this, the vlogger then starts showing and talking more about this particular Maruti 800. He states that it was bought back in June 1990, and since then it has only covered over 24,000 km, which means that over the last 35 years, this hatchback has been driven at an average of 685 km per year.
He then highlights that from the condition of the car, you can tell that it has been meticulously maintained, and as a fact, this car still has its original paint and original wheels. The vlogger also mentions that even most of the engine components are original as well. In the clip, we can note that there are no visible dents, scratches, or any signs of excessive wear.
The engine bay looks as good as brand new, and even the headlights, taillights, and turn indicators that get discolored over the years still look the same. Soon after, this video shows the interior of this particular Maruti 800, and we can note that it also looks immaculate. The vlogger added that the original seats and interior trims are still as good as brand-new.
The legendary Maruti 800 hatchback back in 1990 was offered with a 796cc, 3-cylinder, inline engine. This engine was known as the F8B engine, and it was a carbureted petrol engine. At the time, it was capable of producing 36 bhp of power and 55.9 Nm of torque.
