Everyone loves the DC superhero Batman, especially the kids. To help fulfill the dreams of many sick kids across the USA, a man named Leonard B. Robinson, also known as “Route 29 Batman,” sold his commercial cleaning company and bought himself a Batman suit and a Lamborghini to use as his Batmobile. He then visited kids in hospitals to boost their morale. Unfortunately, the real-life Batman’s good deeds ended due to a car accident in Maryland, USA.
Real-life Batman Who Loved Kids
As stated, it all started with Leonard B. Robinson selling his commercial cleaning business. From the proceeds of his sale, he managed to retire. However, he was not feeling fulfilled. One day, while looking back at images where he used to dress as Batman for his kids, he decided to do the same for other kids as well.
Following this, he bought himself a $5,000 custom-made Batman suit with all the accessories. Along with it, he also bought himself a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder supercar finished in the Batman shade of black. After this, he started going to hospitals where young kids suffering from terminal illnesses were greeted by him.
The smiles on these kids’ faces gave him the sense of fulfillment he had been looking for. He also attended multiple car shows and traveled around the USA to visit many other kids who wanted to see Batman in real life. Leonard even spent $25,000 of his own money to buy clothes, toys, and other things for kids in hospitals and others in need.
How Did He Become Famous?
As for the fame that Leonard amassed, it can be attributed to a short clip that went viral on the internet. What happened was that Leonard was driving on the road in his Lamborghini with the Batman logo on the license plate. Due to this, Montgomery County Police pulled him over.
He stopped on the side of the road and talked to the police officers. He explained to them that he was heading to visit children in a cancer ward. Upon hearing this, the police authorities let him go ahead but clicked a picture of him with his Lamborghini. This image, as well as the video, then became viral on the internet.
Batman’s Accident
Unfortunately, the man whose mission in life was to uplift kids and other people in hospitals died after getting involved in an accident. Reportedly, Leonard B. Robinson’s Lamborghini Gallardo broke down in the fast lane on I-70 while he was returning from a car show in Virginia.
He then stepped out to check his supercar to find the issue. However, a speeding Toyota Camry sedan struck the Batmobile parked on the side of the road. This resulted in a strong impact, which caused the death of the real-life Batman.
As per the reports, the accident took place near Big Pool in Maryland, USA, at around 10:30 PM back in 2015. It was stated that the Toyota Camry driver did not suffer any injuries, and the crash was investigated by the Maryland State Police.
Following his death, many people mourned, and Montgomery County Police Department also expressed their condolences. Various organizations, including the Bowie Baysox baseball team and others, paid tribute to the late Robinson. Scott Robinson, his brother, stated, “He touched a lot of lives and made a lot of kids smile.”
