Maruti 800 SS80 Restoration Details
In the post, the owner of this particular Maruti 800 SS80 revealed that he bought this iconic hatchback back in 2022. He stated that he bought it from a used car dealer, following which he has been continuously working on this car to make it as perfect and original as he can.
The owner has also highlighted that it still runs flawlessly and has only very little original mileage. He stated that this car was mostly part of a collector’s collection; hence, it only has 36,000 km on the odometer. This car was very scarcely driven on the road. He added that for this reason, he is thinking of doing a road trip with this car.
As mentioned, from the images we can note that the car has been restored to look completely original. It gets the iconic horizontal slat grille with the Maruti 800 badging, the Powder Blue-colored exterior, and black bumper protectors. The interior, however, has been upgraded with black and white leather seats, and it looks beautiful.
Current Market of the Original Maruti SS80
One of the automotive enthusiasts asked the owner of this particular Maruti 800 SS80 a question regarding the availability and pricing of parts. He asked him how hard it is to source parts for this vehicle. To this, the owner replied, “Most of the parts that the SS80 came with were continued to be used in the later iterations of the same car. It definitely went through a design upgrade when the SB308 came out.”
He added, “However, the mechanical parts within the engine remained the same. In this year, it is indeed arduous to procure cabin fittings and other external body parts. On the other side, engine parts are easily available from third-party copy makers. You’d really have to look hard to find genuine Japan-made parts for the car. It is also selling at a high premium.”
The owner then gave his opinions on the driving experience of this hatchback and stated that it is still great. He explained that the maximum speed is around 80 km/h, and this car comes with no air conditioner. Apart from this one drawback, he highlighted that it is a very fun-to-drive vehicle.
Following this, he talks about the current market pricing of this car. He states that Maruti SS80s in mint condition are currently priced at around Rs 2.5-3 lakhs. He highlights that these prices are for restored/stock condition. On the other hand, a modified one can go for Rs 1.5-2 lakhs to the right buyer. The owner stated that anything over 3 lakhs is slightly on the higher side.
