Multi-Crore Rolls-Royce Ghost Getting Fixed At Local Indian Garage Is A Rare Sight!
Generally, the people who buy ultra-expensive luxury cars like Rolls-Royce, Bentleys, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis can afford to service them at dealerships. However, there are people who, despite owning such cars, take them to local mechanics and their shops to get fixed. Now, this is not a very common sight in India, but it does happen. Recently, a video of one car—more specifically, a Rolls-Royce Ghost—getting repaired at a local mechanic’s shop has been shared online.
This video of a Rolls-Royce Ghost getting repair work done at a local garage has been shared on X by Rattan Dhillon on their page. He shared the post with the caption stating, “Is it just me, or is it surprising to see a Rolls-Royce being repaired at a local garage? I mean, who takes it to a local garage for repairs? I’m really curious why the owner chose to do that.”
Rolls-Royce Ghost at local mechanic’s garage
In this short, minute-long video, a Rolls-Royce Ghost Series I, finished in a silver shade, was seen parked at a local garage. We can note that half of the number plate of this vehicle was hidden. However, it can be seen that it is registered in Himachal Pradesh. The narrator of the video then starts explaining what went wrong with this particular Ghost luxury sedan.
He starts by mentioning that the vehicle was sent to their shop by the owner as its front left side had completely sagged down. The narrator then states that what happened was that the air suspension’s airbag had blown out. As a result, this vehicle could not fill it up and raise the height of this wheel like the other three wheels.
Following this, he mentions that had the owner gone to the dealership, he would have been quoted around Rs 5–10 lakh for the replacement of all four airbags instead of only replacing the single faulty unit. The narrator then states that they have ordered only the front left air suspension of the Ghost and then shows the unboxing of this component.
He then shows both the old and new air suspension and shows the process of replacing this part. Finally, after replacing the suspension component, the owner of the shop takes this Rolls-Royce Ghost for a test drive on the road. He mentions that the vehicle is now working properly and the repair is completed.
Why do people take such cars to local garages?
As India's new car market is growing, the used car market is also growing at a rapid pace. Due to this, even cars like Rolls-Royces, Ferraris, Bentleys, and others are selling for 40 percent of their original costs. And a lot of people buy these cars from the used car market.
However, when it comes to maintenance of these vehicles, they generally avoid taking them to dealerships. This is because dealerships charge high prices. So, in order to save on the repair cost, these owners prefer to take such cars to local shops.
Does it make sense to take such expensive cars to local mechanics?
The answer to this question is very subjective. This is because not all local garages are the same. Today, a lot of local mechanics have become experts in such luxury car repairs. And with proper tools, they are fully capable of refurbishing and repairing such cars.

Don’t write off small independent mechanics. Sometimes they know more about cars than mechanics at official dealers of the brand.”
