Today, when we see a Bollywood celebrity or a superstar, we see them being driven around by their chauffeurs in their luxury cars. However, back in the nineties, things were different. Many Bollywood actors loved driving their expensive luxury cars, SUVs, and motorcycles. On a lot of occasions, they used to drive to the set of the movie they were shooting as well. Recently, we came across one such video, and it shows the “Baadshah” of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan himself, driving his beloved Mitsubishi Pajero.
Shahrukh Driving His Mitsubishi Pajero
The video of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan driving his Mitsubishi Pajero SUV has been shared on YouTube. It comes courtesy of Wild Films India. In this short clip, the King Khan can be seen talking to some of the film crew at the shoot of one of his movies. Following this, he starts exiting the shoot location. He can be seen being followed by his fans to his SUV.
After this, we see Shahrukh entering his Mitsubishi Pajero. And just before he was about to leave, one of the journalists asks Shahrukh to describe someone with one word. To this, the actor shows his quick thinking and gives a number of praise words. Following this, he then starts driving away in his SUV and also says goodbye to his film crew.
Shahrukh Khan’s Mitsubishi Pajero
From the video, we can note that Shahrukh Khan, at the time, owned this Mitsubishi Pajero SFX SUV finished in a bright shade of red. This was one of the most popular color choices for this car. It was offered in a dual-tone scheme where the top half of the vehicle was red, while the lower portion was finished in silver.
It can also be noted that the Mitsubishi Pajero GLX of Shahrukh was equipped with a massive bullbar. It covered the front bumper as well as the headlights of this SUV. Also, it appears that Shahrukh had added some aftermarket multispoke alloy wheels to his SUV as well.
Mitsubishi Pajero
The Mitsubishi Pajero was initially imported as a CBU unit back in the late nineties. Most likely, Shahrukh Khan was one of those individuals who paid a massive price tag (for that time) of Rs 33.5 lakh. It was initially launched as a niche lifestyle SUV; however, following its success in the country despite the heavy price tag, Hindustan Motors decided to assemble the Pajero in India.
Following this, in 2002, Hindustan Motors started producing the Mitsubishi Pajero in its Chennai plant. After this, its price went down to Rs 19.5 lakh. At the time, it competed with the Hyundai Terracan SUV. It also competed with the Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUV, which at the time was Rs 20 lakh more expensive.
Hindustan Motors offered the Pajero in two variants. The first was the GL, and the other was the GLX. Both of these variants came powered by the same 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. This engine was made available with a manual gearbox. Also, it came with four-wheel drive as standard. This SUV used to make 120 bhp of maximum power and 280 Nm of maximum torque.
