Collapsing Sun Shade Falls On Range Rover And Toyota During Storm
From the surface, it seems like India is progressing and its infrastructure is developing. However, whenever there is a change in weather, the quality of infrastructure development gets exposed. Recently, Chhattisgarh, more particularly the city of Raipur, which is its capital, saw a heavy rainstorm, and this one storm showed how poor the infrastructure quality of this city is. A video from Raipur has become viral in which a sun shade, which was located in the middle of the city, fell on a Range Rover Evoque and a Toyota Innova Crysta.

This video has been surfacing on all the social media platforms, and it shows that a massive blue-colored shed had fallen on two vehicles. As per the reports, this incident took place at the Devendra Nagar Square, in front of the Government Medical College. What happened was that due to the high-speed winds, the sun shade, which was installed to provide shade from sun and water to people on the square, had fallen.
It has to be mentioned that this was one of the worst rainstorms that has been seen in Raipur in the last couple of years. However, despite this, it cannot be a reason for the city to have such poor infrastructure, which can be damaged by a few strong winds. Thankfully, there was no loss of life or any reported accidents due to the falling of this sun shade. Apart from this, there were other structures as well, which had completely been destroyed in Raipur.
Toll plaza flies off
In addition to this sun shadefalling, another video from Chhattisgarh has become viral. In this particular video, it was noted that the entire metal roof structure of a toll booth flew off due to the heavy winds. This incident was reported from Tarpongi, which is a place located 29 km away from Raipur. In the clip, we can see that a number of vehicles were at the toll booth waiting to pass.
However, in just a matter of a few seconds, the entire metal roof structure of this toll booth flew off due to the rainstorm and winds. Thankfully, in this incident as well, no deaths were reported. However, most likely a few cars were damaged in the course of this incident.
Apart from these incidents, there were many other trees and poles across the city of Raipur which could not withstand the storm. As a result of this, many areas of the city suffered from power outages. As a result of this, it has been exposed that despite everything looking fine on the surface, the quality of infrastructure and the speed of action taken by local authorities is very slow, which causes inconvenience to the residents of the city.
Most Indian cities have similar situations
These types of incidents are not isolated to any one city in India. Over the years, we have noted that most cities are not equipped with adequate high-quality infrastructure which can withstand the changes of extreme weather conditions. The prime example of one such city is Mumbai.
Every year when the monsoon arrives, the city comes to a complete halt as the roads and railway tracks get flooded. At this point, the only thing which we can do is question the authorities on these topics. However, we all know that these topics either get silenced or they get forgotten, as the memory of the public in India is very weak.
