ADAS in Tata Curvv Fails To Keep Car In Lane: Video

Tata Curvv ADAS failed on curved road

A number of popular cars in India are now being offered with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). With the help of this, the car can drive itself, change lanes, and also use the brakes in case of an emergency. Due to these self-driving capabilities, a lot of people now enjoy cruising on highways. However, it has to be noted that this system can sometimes stop working as well. Recently, a video has been shared online in which a Tata Curvv’s ADAS stopped working while being driven on a curved road. Thankfully, the driver took over in time to avoid a crash.

What if he stopped for some more time ??

Tata Curvv ADAS stops working

The video of Tata Curvv’s ADAS stopping while being on the road has been shared on Reddit. In this short clip, we can note that a person was driving the brand-new Tata Curvv coupe SUV, which comes equipped with ADAS Level 2. It offers features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and auto emergency braking, along with others.

In this particular video, the driver mentions that he wants to check out the lane-keeping assist feature of this SUV. For this, he mentions that in just a few hundred meters, there is a curve on the road where he will test this feature. It can then be noted that he lifts his hands off the steering wheel, and the Curvv starts turning left, following the lane markers on the road.

Unfortunately, when the curve became more angled, the car could not continue turning left, and the driver had to intervene. In the video, the driver mentions that the vehicle was able to successfully keep the lane. However, as we can note, the vehicle’s ADAS failed at this task, and had the driver not taken over the steering, it would have crashed into the wall.

Never rely on ADAS

Even though ADAS is a very good feature, and manufacturers have made a lot of improvements over the years, it is still to be kept in mind that these systems can fail at any point in time. Generally, in India, roads do not have clear markings, which are required by ADAS to work properly.

However, in the above example, even after the roads had clear markings, Tata Curvv’s ADAS failed. This shows that no matter what, everything, including the ADAS, which is based on computers, can stop working, and if not being careful, they can cause significant damage.

Also, what adds another layer of complexity for systems like ADAS in India are the unpredictable roads. As we all are aware, people in India drive recklessly, and this can render these systems useless. So, make sure to always pay attention to the road and never rely fully on ADAS.

Now, although we have mentioned that ADAS can stop working sometimes, it has to be noted that this system, in many cases, has saved people and their cars from getting involved in dangerous accidents. Features like auto emergency braking have proved that, on many occasions, drivers cannot react and stop the vehicle immediately. But because of this feature, accidents were avoided.

Stupid people exploiting ADAS

Even though we have requested a number of times here on Cartoq that ADAS should be used carefully, for some reason, people do not understand this simple thing. In the last few years, we have seen numerous people turning on ADAS in their cars and then doing stupid things like playing Ludo and cards and even sleeping while sitting in the driver’s seat.
