Passionate Tamil Nadu Workshop Is Keeping The Legendary Mitsubishi Lancer Alive [Video]

Mitsubishi cars are something many of us once dreamt of owning. Due to several reasons, Mitsubishi had to discontinue their cars from our market. Some of their popular models in India were the Lancer and the Pajero. While the manufacturer doesn’t offer any models in the Indian market anymore, we still have several enthusiasts who own these cars. Owning these cars is not a joke, as not everyone does it. Here we have a video of a workshop that specializes in keeping the iconic Mitsubishi Lancer alive.
The video has been shared by Motor Maalai on his Instagram page. The video calls the workshop, or the person behind it, The Lancer Doctor, as the workshop specializes in servicing and repairing Mitsubishi cars.
The vlogger talks to the owner of the workshop in this video about the challenges they face in maintaining these cars. It looks like the workshop is quite popular among Lancer owners in the region, as there are several cars in the parking lot.
It is a multi-car service station but with a soft corner for Lancers. The owner mentions that they use original OEM parts for most cars that come in for servicing. However, in the case of the Mitsubishi Lancer, that is not always an option. They often look for alternative options that offer good quality and reliability.
The main aim of the workshop owner is that the customer shouldn’t face any problems. In order to ensure that a particular part is of good quality, he uses and test-runs these aftermarket parts on his own Mitsubishi Lancer. Once he is satisfied with the results, he goes forward and places an order for other vehicle owners.
In the garage, they use modern equipment and lifts to ensure smooth operations. The owner also talks about the modifications that Lancer owners often opt for.
He discusses both sensible mods and modifications that affect handling, ride quality, and even the lifespan of the parts. He mentions that using large wheels, low-profile tyres, and spacers often affects the longevity, and it is always a good idea to simply go with modifications that do not affect the overall driving experience.
Coming to the repairs, the workshop mentions that Lancer owners should give them enough time to source parts, as they are difficult to find. In most cases, they try to source the original parts, but only when they can’t find an original part do they look for other options.
The Lancer was an iconic sedan known for its sporty yet premium looks and features. The car was available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel version of the Lancer used a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that generated 68 BHP and 122 Nm of peak torque. The engine was mated to a manual transmission.
The petrol version of the sedan came with a 1.5-litre engine that generated 87 BHP and 130 Nm of torque. The sedan was offered with a manual transmission. Many owners have even installed aftermarket CNG and LPG kits in their cars due to low fuel efficiency.
