The Dhoom franchise needs no introduction among automotive enthusiasts- especially those who are into superbikes. All movies of the franchise yet have featured drool-worthy superbikes alongside cool cars. The first movie in particular was so full of bikes and soon rose to massive acceptance among motorcycle enthusiasts. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the franchise has had three instalments so far. Now, a video from the sets of Dhoom 3 has surfaced, which shows actor Uday Chopra Crashing a BMW S1000 RR superbike in Chicago.

In 2012, many news outlets reported that Uday Chopra met with an accident while shooting Dhoom 3. He was reportedly practising stunts on a BMW S1000 RR, when he fell off the motorcycle and hurt himself. The video shows the actor riding the S 1000 RR. He is wearing the costume of the character Ali from the movie.

A few seconds later he’s seen riding the motorcycle down what looks like a metal bridge. The incident seems to be from some foreign country. We think this to be Chicago. The video also shows Uday talking about the accident in an interview.

People are showering the post with interesting comments. Some users blame the accident on the actor’s skill levels. An interesting comment reads ‘Isliye usko R15 diya tha Dhoom 1 me’ (translating to ‘this is why he was given an R15 in Dhoom 1’). While we understand the sarcasm behind this, it is to be noted that the R15 was used at the beginning of Dhoom 3. Another comment says ‘Maurice I can’t dhoom dhoom anymore’.

Another comment says ‘That bike is in the market as the Dhoom bike and sparingly used and as well maintained somewhere’. While this comment is funny, it is still possible to find a well-kept first-generation S1000 RR. Another user commented ‘Only legends can handle German machines’.

First Generation BMW S1000 RR: Quick Look At It

Launched in 2009, BMW S1000RR soon rose to the reputation of being the best-equipped sport bike. It was powered by a 999-cc, water/oil-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox, with an anti-hopping clutch. This engine had the biggest bore in its class. The bore and stroke stood at 80.0 mm × 49.7 mm respectively. It was also the first production motorcycle to feature an optional quick shifter.

The bike was featured in Dhoom 3- a 2o13 release. Ali, the character played by Uday can be seen riding it extensively in various scenes. He is also seen performing various stunts with it, including stoppies and wheelies.

BMW Motorrad has revealed the 2025 version of the S1000 RR, for the international markets. The changes on the new motorcycle are mostly cosmetic. The bike remains mechanically unchanged. It looks more bulbous than before. The headlamp cowl now looks curvier and the size of the winglets has also gone up. They are almost as big as the ones on the M 1000 RR.

Being larger, these have enhanced functionality, and generate more downforce. The size of the fairings remains identical to those on the OG- 2009 motorcycle. The bike also comes with an exit vent on the left and gills on the right. There are also integrated brake cooling ducts for better performance on track days!

The new motorcycle also gets Pro riding mode and M Quick-Action as standard. It continues to be powered by a 999cc, inline-four engine making 206.51bhp and 113Nm. The electronics onboard include traction control, slide control function, ABS with brake slide assist, four ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Race), hill start control, bi-directional quick-shifter, launch control, and pit lane limiter.
