Newly-introduced Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Sport Variant In A Detailed Walkaround Video

Virtus GT Plus Sport

Volkswagen, during their brand conference earlier this year, unveiled the GT Plus Sport Concept of the Virtus sedan. The manufacturer had launched the GT Plus Sport variant of the Taigun and mentioned that the Virtus would also get the same variant at a later stage. It looks like Volkswagen is silently planning to launch the GT Plus Sport variant, and the car has actually reached dealerships in India. Here we have a detailed walkaround video that shows what has changed in the Virtus GT Plus Sport variant.

The video has been shared by Car Quest on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger talks about the exterior changes of this new variant and shows how it is different from the regular Virtus variants. He starts by talking about the exterior color, which is finished in a beautiful shade of blue.

As this is the GT Plus Sport variant, Volkswagen has blacked out all the chrome elements on the car. The front grille, lower air dam, bumper garnish, and lower window line are all finished in black. The car also gets blacked-out alloy wheels. The brake calipers are finished in red to give it a sporty look.

There is a black side skirt on this variant along with a GT badge on the fender. As we move to the rear, the car gets a GT badge on the rear, and we see a blacked-out bumper garnish and a lip spoiler on the tailgate.

The interior design of the car remains the same as the regular Virtus. However, the theme is different. The GT Plus Sport variant gets all-black interiors with red highlights and stitching. This has been intentionally done to make the car look sporty.

The steering wheel also has red inserts and a GT badge to ensure that it looks sporty. This is the higher variant of the Virtus, which offers premium features like automatic climate control, an electric sunroof, a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVMs, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, a touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and so on.

Coming to the engine, the GT Plus Sport variant is based on the regular GT variant, which means it is offered with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. The engine is capable of generating 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 7-speed DSG. Volkswagen also introduced the GT Line variant of the Taigun SUV earlier this year.

The GT Line variant is actually based on the 1.0-liter TSI variant with blacked-out elements to make it look sporty. We expect that Volkswagen will launch a similar GT Line variant with the Virtus in the near future.

Both Virtus and the Taigun are part of Volkswagen’s India 2.0 Strategy, and both models have received a good response from customers. According to recent reports, we are expecting a possible alliance between Mahindra and the Volkswagen Group. Mahindra will take a 50% stake in the VW-Skoda India operation. Both Mahindra and Volkswagen could benefit from this partnership if it turns into reality.
