Mahindra XEV 9E Takes On Rs 1.5 Crore Land Rover Defender In A Drag Race [Video]
The Mahindra XEV 9E is one of the fastest electric vehicles in India at the moment. For this reason, a number of YouTubers are now testing this electric SUV by drag racing it against many popular SUVs. Recently, a video has been shared online in which a Mahindra XEV 9E was seen competing with a Land Rover Defender, which is worth Rs 1.5 crore. As for the results, you'll be surprised to know how the XEV 9E stacked up against this popular SUV.
This video of the drag races of the Mahindra XEV 9E and Land Rover Defender has been shared on YouTube by Car War on their channel. Before the beginning of the drag races, the vlogger highlights that the XEV 9E is an all-electric SUV, meanwhile the Defender is a petrol SUV. Soon after this, he mentions that they will be doing three rounds and will find out the winner.
Mahindra XEV 9E vs Land Rover Defender: Drag Race
Following the introduction, the two SUVs get lined up on the start line for the first round. The vlogger takes the steering wheel of the Land Rover Defender and mentions that the first round will be done in normal mode. He added that he will first honk three times, and on the third honk, they will commence the race.
Soon after this, the first round starts, and we can note that the XEV 9E gets left behind as the Defender gets ahead. The video shows that the Defender was able to make a significant gap. After this, they once again line up the SUVs next to each other, and the vlogger mentions that for the second round, they will be turning to the sport mode of these SUVs.
This time around, after the third honk, the Mahindra XEV 9E shoots off the start line like a rocket and leaves the Defender in the dust. The gap created between the two SUVs was massive. After this, the vlogger again lines up the Defender against the XEV 9E, but this time around he drives the XEV 9E. He states that they will keep the vehicles in sport mode, and once again the XEV 9E was able to destroy the Defender.
Despite saying that they will be doing three rounds, they start the fourth round. However, this time around, they again use the normal modes of these SUVs. And like before, the XEV 9E was unable to keep up with the Defender. Finally, they again engage the sport mode, and the XEV 9E takes the cake.
Powertrain Differences
The Mahindra XEV 9E comes equipped with an electric motor which is capable of producing 282 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. All the power is sent to the rear wheels, and the torque is instant as it lacks a traditional gearbox. The Land Rover Defender, on the other hand, comes equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which makes 296 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. Unlike the XEV 9E, it gets an all-wheel-drive system.
Don't Race on Public Roads
