The remaining few months of 2024 and the upcoming months of 2025 will be jam-packed with new car launches. Almost all of the major automakers in India will launch new cars and updated versions of their already popular models in the country. Maruti Grand Vitara 7-Seater
First off will be the new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-Seater. This new 7-seater version of the popular hybrid SUV from Maruti Suzuki is expected to make its debut in early 2025. It will come powered by the same 1.5-litre K15C mild hybrid petrol and 1.5-litre strong hybrid petrol engines. Most likely, it will be offered with 6-seater and 7-seater options. Also, it will boast extended length and some minor cosmetic upgrades. The price is expected to exceed the Rs 15 lakh mark.
Toyota HyRyder 7-Seater
In addition to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-Seater, Toyota will also launch the Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-Seater. It too will boast an extended wheelbase and will come with the same 1.5-litre strong hybrid and mild hybrid 1.5-litre K15C engine. Most likely, it will be launched slightly after the Grand Vitara 7-Seater.
Tata Harrier EV
Tata Motors is betting big on electric cars, and next year it will be launching the Harrier EV. It is expected to arrive in the country before March 31, 2025. It will most likely be powered by a 60 kWh battery with a 500 km range. Also, it will get a dual-motor setup, AWD, V2L, and V2V charging. As for the pricing, it is expected to start above Rs 30 lakh. Once launched, it will be competing with the Mahindra XUV.e8.
Mahindra BE.05
Like Tata Motors, Mahindra Automotive is also gearing up for the launch of a few new EVs in India. The next EV from the brand will be the BE.05, which is expected to be launched in October 2025. It will be offered with 60-80 kWh batteries, with a range of 435-450 km. It will most likely come with rear-wheel drive and a possible dual-motor AWD.
Hyundai Creta EV
Speaking of EVs, the South Korean automotive giant Hyundai is also working on the development of the Creta EV. This model is expected to make its debut in early 2025. It has been reported that it could get a 45 kWh battery pack and a 138 bhp motor making 255 Nm of torque. Production of the Creta EV will likely begin in late 2024 at Hyundai’s Chennai plant.
Maruti eVX
The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, is also expected to launch its first electric SUV, the eVX, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. The Maruti Suzuki eVX is expected to come equipped with a 60 kWh battery pack offering a range of 450 km on a single full charge.
Toyota Urban Electric SUV (Badge Engineered eVX)
Like the current badge-engineered models, Toyota is also expected to launch its own version of the Maruti eVX later in 2025. It will feature the exact same powertrain but will come with a unique exterior design featuring C-shaped LED DRLs, a minimalist bumper, and flared wheel arches. It will be competing with the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti eVX.
Maruti Fronx Series Hybrid
Maruti Suzuki is also gearing up for the launch of the Fronx hybrid in India. This model is expected to debut a brand-new series hybrid powertrain which is being developed in-house by Maruti Suzuki. This new model is expected to offer an extremely impressive mileage of 35-40 kmpl and hit dealerships by the end of 2025 or early 2026.
Toyota Fortuner MHEV
In order to boost the already abundant sales of the Fortuner, Toyota will soon be launching the Fortuner MHEV in India. Currently, this model is available in South Africa. It comes with the same 2.8-litre diesel, but it gets a 48V mild-hybrid, making 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque.
All-New Renault Duster
The French automaker Renault is getting ready to once again conquer the mid-size SUV segment, which it started in India with the first-generation Duster. The new Duster has already been launched internationally but will be launched in India in the second half of 2025. Its seven-seater variant will be launched in 2026. It could come with 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engines.
All-New Nissan Terrano
Alongside the Duster, Nissan, the partner of Renault, will also launch its very own version of the Duster, which could be renamed as the Terrano in 2025. Similar to the Renault Duster, it could come with 1.0-litre, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engines. It will boast a few more high-end features and an upmarket design.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift
Early next year, the German automotive giant Volkswagen is expected to introduce the Taigun facelift in India. This new model is expected to come equipped with a panoramic sunroof and level 2 ADAS. It might also feature a new front fascia and new front and rear bumpers. It will most likely retain the same 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines.
Skoda Kushaq Facelift
Following in the footsteps of its parent company, Skoda India is expected to launch the Kushaq facelift in the first quarter of 2025. The powertrain options will remain the same: 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI engines. The main highlight of the new Kushaq facelift will be the addition of a panoramic sunroof and level 2 ADAS. It will also get new exterior design elements.
BYD Atto 2
To give the Maruti Suzuki eVX and Hyundai Creta EV a run for their money, the Chinese automaker Build Your Dreams (BYD) is expected to launch its new Atto 2 EV SUV in India by 2025. It could be launched in the Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh price range. It will be based on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0.
Reportedly, there will be two motor options: a 94 bhp and a 174 bhp—paired with Blade batteries offering a 300-400 km range. India is expected to get the 174 hp motor with a larger battery.
Ford Everest
Good news for all the Ford Endeavour lovers: the mighty SUV is making a comeback to India, but this time around it will be coming out as the Everest in India. It is expected to make its re-entry into India by late 2024 or early 2025 as a CBU (Completely Built-Up) unit. Once launched, the Everest is expected to give stiff competition to the segment champion, Toyota Fortuner.
