The number of large family car buyers in India is increasing rapidly. As a result, most of the automakers are gearing up to make sure that they don't miss out on the increasing demand. Today, we have compiled a list of 20 new seven-seater SUVs and MPVs which will be launched in India in the coming period. So, without wasting any more time, let's jump right into the details.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara seven-seater

The first seven-seater on this list is the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara seven-seater. Most likely, this SUV will be launched in the second half of this year and will be based on the five-seater Grand Vitara but will get an additional row of seats in the rear. Its highlights will include the addition of ADAS, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and updated design.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder seven-seater

Based on the same platform as the Grand Vitara seven-seater, Toyota’s badge-engineered version will get the exact same dimensions and powertrains. However, the major difference will be on the outside, just like the current Grand Vitara and Hyryder. It is believed the Urban Cruiser Hyryder seven-seater will be launched by December of this year.

Maruti Suzuki YMC electric MPV

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on the development of a born electric MPV, which has been codenamed YMC. It is expected to make its debut by the second half of 2026. As for the electric powertrain details, not much is known at the moment. However, it is believed that the company could be offering it with a 500 km range.

Toyota is also jointly working on the development of the Maruti Suzuki YMC electric MPV, as it will also be launching its very own badge-engineered version. Apart from the exterior design, most likely all the other elements of the YMC electric MPV will be the same in Toyota's version.

Kia has finally announced that the new facelifted iteration of the Carens MPV will be launched on May 8. This time around, the MPV will be getting an updated exterior and a refreshed interior. It will also be getting Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree surround view camera, dual 10.25-inch screens, panoramic sunroof, 64-color ambient lighting, 8-speaker Bose, and others.

Next up in the launch lineup of Kia is the Carens EV. The electrified version of the Carens will most likely borrow the same drivetrain as the Hyundai Creta Electric. This will include two battery pack options of 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The smaller battery might offer the same 390 km per charge, while the 51.4 kWh unit has a range of 473 km, as in the Creta Electric. Price could be in the range of Rs 18–25 lakh.

Tata Safari petrol

Tata Motors is very likely to launch its seven-seater Safari's petrol version before the end of this year. This model is expected to get the 1.5-litre TGDi engine. This motor will be capable of producing 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. As for the transmission options, it will be offered with both a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic transmission as well.

Tata Safari EV

Tata Motors will also be foraying into the full-size electric SUV segment with the Safari EV. This SUV is expected to get an 80 kWh battery pack, which could offer a range of 500+ km. As for the power figure, it will most likely be offered with a dual electric motor setup offering more than 369 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Pricing will be in the range of Rs 25–30 lakh.

Mahindra XUV700 facelift

Mahindra is also gearing up for the launch of the facelift of the Tata Safari rival, the XUV700. This new model is expected to get an updated exterior as well as interior. Powertrain options will likely remain the same as the current model.

Mahindra Scorpio-N facelift

In addition to the XUV700, the popular model Scorpio-N is also expected to get a facelift soon. The new facelifted Scorpio-N is expected to get ADAS Level 2, a larger touchscreen, and enhanced safety features. The facelift will also feature a revised front fascia and a new Dark Edition variant.

Toyota Fortuner mild hybrid

Toyota will also be finally upgrading the Fortuner, and this time it will be getting a mild hybrid system. This iteration of the Toyota Fortuner comes equipped with the same 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. However, it will now get an added 48V mild hybrid system. This engine produces 201 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque.

Renault Triber facelift

The French automaker Renault is also getting ready to update its already popular affordable seven-seater MPV, Triber. This time around, the Triber will be getting an updated exterior design and a redesigned interior as well. It is also expected to get an updated infotainment system, which will most likely be larger in size and could come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Launch will most likely take place in the coming few months.

Renault Bigster

Based on the internationally launched Duster, Renault will also be launching the Bigster seven-seater SUV in India. It will compete with the likes of the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar, and others. In terms of design, it will look very similar to the new Duster. As for the launch, it is expected to take place next year.

Nissan's Triber-based MPV

Nissan, which has been struggling in India, has showcased the teaser pictures of the upcoming affordable MPV. Most likely, it will be based on the Renault Triber and will boast a slightly different appearance. It would be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, offered with both a manual and an AMT gearbox option.

Nissan Terrano (Bigster-based seven-seater)

Like Renault, Nissan will be launching a seven-seater SUV, and this will be based on the Bigster, which will be launched in India. This model will get unique styling, which will help it in differentiating from the Bigster. Powertrain options will remain the same.

Hyundai Alcazar EV

Hyundai India will be electrifying its seven-seater SUV, the Alcazar, and most likely, it will be launched by the end of this year or the first half of next year. Powertrain options are expected to remain the same as the Carens EV and Creta Electric.

Skoda Kodiaq RS

Recently, Skoda launched its flagship SUV, the latest generation Kodiaq, in India. Now, the company is planning to launch the more performance-oriented version of this SUV – Kodiaq RS. This model is expected to get a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol motor. This high-performance motor is capable of producing an impressive 265 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. As for transmission, they both get a 7-speed DSG gearbox.

Skoda Kodiaq Diesel

At the moment, Skoda has launched the Kodiaq new generation with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine, which makes 204 PS. However, it is believed that the company will be launching the diesel-powered model in India as well. This model will get a 2.0-litre TDI motor capable of producing 187 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque.

Mahindra XEV 7E

A little while ago, a few images of the upcoming Mahindra XEV 7E, the electric version of the XUV700, were leaked online. This new EV SUV, which will be based on the same INGLO platform, will get a dual-motor AWD system, which will enable it to offer 350 bhp and 450 Nm of torque.

Last but not least, the seven-seater SUV which will be launched in the couple of weeks is the MG Majestor. This new model was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo. This SUV will be getting a massive 2.9-litre four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine, which will generate 216 bhp and 479 Nm of peak torque. It will also come loaded with premium features and will look more macho than the Gloster.
