Hyundai has launched the new facelifted Alcazar in India. Positioned between the Creta and Tucson, the new SUV is available in both 6-seater and 7-seater versions. The ex-showroom price starts at 14.99 lakh for the petrol and 15.99 lakh for the diesel variants. These are more than the prices of entry-spec variants of the Mahindra XUV 700.
2024 Alcazar Design Changes
The design of the new Alcazar takes strong inspiration from that of the current Creta. It gets a new, wide front grille with dark Chrome finish, fresh-looking H-shaped LED DRLs, quad-beam LED headlamps, front skid plate, rugged roof rails, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED tail lamps with full-width light bar, and a reworked tailgate.
A total of 9 colour options are available, including three all-new shades. They are Titan Grey Matte, Starry Night, Ranger Khaki, Abyss Black, Atlas White, Robust Emerald Pearl, Robust Emerald Matte and Fiery Red. The last three are the new ones. The Typhoon Silver shade available on the previous SUV, has been removed from the palette. Only the Atlas White is available as a dual-tone, with an Abyss Black roof. The pre-facelift Alcazar offered more dual-tone colour options.
Interior And Features
The interior is finished in a dual-tone colourway comprising Dark Blue and Tan (which Hyundai calls Noble Brown and Haze Navy). It feels more premium than the Creta’s Black and Grey cabin. The dashboard and seat designs have changed. The seats offer great support and comfort levels. Both the front seats are powered and 8-way adjustable. They also get memory and a Welcome retract function for the ease of getting in and out.
On the six-seater version, the second row gets captain seats with ventilation (a total of four ventilated seats!), wing-type headrests, and adjustable thigh cushions. There is also the ‘Boss mode’ function that lets the second-row occupant adjust the co-driver seats electrically by the press of a button.
The dash now gets horizontal AC vents, a magnetic pad on the driver’s side, and a centre console that has touch-based HVAC controls. The SUV gets a 10.25-inch HD infotainment touchscreen with a multi-language user interface that supports up to 10 regional and two international languages, and offers Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, ambient sounds library, among others. The audio system is an 8-speaker setup by Bose.
The facelift also offers two wireless smartphone chargers. It is common to find one on most such cars, these days. But on the new Alcazar, even the second-row occupants get a wireless charger! The new SUV also comes with 70+ BlueLink-based connected car features and support for smartphone and smartwatch integration. There is also support for over 270 voice commands, in Hindi, English and Hinglish.
Other features are ambient lighting, a front-row seatback table with IT device holder & retractable cup holder, a large panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, and an NFC-enabled digital key that lets you use your smartphone as the vehicle key, allowing 3 users and 7 devices at a time. There is support offered for both smartphones and smartwatches.
Engines And Specifications
Minimal changes are made on the mechanical front. The engine and transmission options remain the same as before. The SUV is available with 1.5 TGDI turbocharged petrol engine and 1.5 U2 diesel engine. The diesel produces 116hp and 250 Nm, and can be had with a 6MT or 6AT. The turbo-petrol is good enough to churn out 160 hp and 253 Nm and comes with 7DCT and 6MT transmission options. The new Alcazar also gets selectable drive and traction modes. These powertrains are also seen on the outgoing Creta and command good reputations.
2024 Alcazar Mileage
The petrol engine on the Alcazar has an ARAI-certified mileage of 17.5 kpl on the manual and 18 kpl on the automatic forms. The diesel manual is rated at 20.4 kpl and the automatic at 18.1 kpl.
Safety Features
The range-topping variant is available with 70+ safety features. 40 of these are offered across variants. Standard equipment consists of six airbags, Hill-Start Assist Control, Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, and four disc brakes. The top-spec also comes with level 2 ADAS that offers 19 features. They are:

Rivals
In the Indian market, the new Alcazar will have to battle the likes of MG Hector Plus, Kia Carens, XUV700 and Tata Safari- if we are to talk about 3-row SUVs alone. However, going by the prices, it could compete with top-spec C SUVs as well.
