All-New Maruti Dzire: 10 Big Changes!

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the all-new 2024 Dzire sub-compact sedan in India. The nameplate has been a hot seller for the brand. Test mules have recently been spotted at various places. Recently a completely undisguised image had also surfaced online. Based on the data from these, here are 10 big changes to be expected in the new-generation Maruti Dzire:

No More A Swift With A Boot!

Going by the leaked pictures, the new car will get an entirely new design. Even while it is based on the fourth-generation Swift that is currently on sale here, the exterior design will deviate sharply from that of the hatchback. The new sedan could look wider and have better proportions. It could come with a wide grille that has a tinge of ‘Toyota-ness’ to it, good-looking headlamps, new bumpers, new alloy wheels, and stylish tail lamps. The boot neatly blends with the rest of the bodywork and the roof design is visually appealing as well.

Gets A Three-Cylinder Engine

Like the outgoing Swift, the new Dzire will also be powered by the 1.2L, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated Z series petrol engine (Z12E). A 3-cylinder engine is a first for the nameplate. It is not clear if it will have revised output figures or not. Both manual and automatic transmissions are expected.

First Three Cylinder CNG Engine

Maruti Dzire is a popular pick among fleet customers. The CNG version, in particular, has a huge fan following in the segment. It is loved for the frugal powertrain, ride quality and boot space. Currently, the CNG version has a 4-cylinder engine. On the new car, the Z12E engine will likely be used on the CNG version as well due to its versatile nature.

Fresh-Looking Interiors

The new sedan will feature a completely reworked cabin with a new dashboard and upholstery. There could be slight resemblances to the Swift’s cabin, but the design at large would be pleasingly different and have a distinct visual identity to it. We expect the new car to use more premium and upmarket materials and trims on the inside.

Will Soon Get A Hybrid Engine!

As per sources, Maruti Suzuki will likely give the new DZire hybrid technology. The manufacturer has openly admitted its vision of making affordable hybrid cars and democratizing technologies like series hybrids, in the future. It will reportedly make hybrid Dzires, based on the Z12E engine.

This engine already has an integrated mild hybrid tech in it, and is significantly more fuel efficient than the previous K12D engines. Furthermore, it is flexible and can easily fit into the series hybrid framework.

Gets A Sunroof

Marking another first in the moniker’s history, the upcoming Dzire will have a single-pane sunroof on higher variants. Though details of the same are sparse, the leaked image suggests this to be a reasonably sized unit. As of now, the upcoming Dzire could become the first in its segment to offer one.

Gets 360 Degree Camera

A 360-degree camera is also expected on the upcoming Dzire. We have seen these units on several Maruti cars of the day- like Baleno, Fronx, Brezza, Swift etc. These offer good-quality feeds and are of great use in daily commutes. It is thus logical to expect this to make it to the new Dzire as well.

9-Inch Infotainment System

The sedan will feature a larger 9-inch infotainment system that could come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivities.  Maruti has been upsizing the touchscreens on many of its models, and we knew it was only a matter of time before the Dzire got it.

Gets Wireless Charger

Though we don’t have any visual evidence of it yet, the new generation sedan will mostly come with a wireless charger for your smartphone. Models like the Baleno already have this feature on offer.

6 Airbags Are Standard

With Maruti’s increased focus on improving vehicle safety, we expect the new Dzire to come with loads of safety features and tech. 6 airbags will be offered as standard. Other features like ABS, EBD etc will also be present.
