The new Dzire is based on the fourth-generation Swift. It, however, steers clear of any design influence of the same. The styling gets a major overhaul. The new car comes with cleaner lines and surfaces. It has a large front grille that might remind you of some Toyota models to some extent, new sharp angular LED (Crytal vision) headlamps, new two-tone wheels, new sharkfin antenna, a clean, hassle-free silhouette and a good-looking rear end with LED tail lamps with Y-shaped detailing, boot lip spoiler and a new bumper.

It doesn’t look like a Swift with a boot anymore. There are a total of 7 exterior colours on offer. There are even two distinct accessories packs- Copperico and Chromico for added personalisation.

Talking dimensions, the sedan measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width, and 1,525 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2,450 and the weight is 1,375 kilos.

On the inside, the new Dzire gets a new cabin layout and colourway. It could look similar to the new Swift inside and comes with a tetra-tone colourway- Two primary colours- Black and Beige dominate the cabin. You can also see Faux wood and Satin Silver trims.

There is now a new steering wheel with integrated controls for music, telephony, and cruise control. Other features are a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen, analogue instrument cluster, wireless charger, traction control, rear AC vents, rear armrests, fast chargers wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Archemis sound, Suzuki connect, climate control, 360 HD camera, and a single-pane sunroof. It is for the first time that a vehicle in this segment is getting a sunroof.

The ‘fourth generation of India’s most successful sedan’ (Sold over 27 lakh units so far) as Maruti calls it, is powered by a new engine. Unlike its predecessors which used to come with fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines, the new Dzire comes with Maruti’s new-age Z12E petrol engine. This three-cylinder, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine comes straight from the outgoing Swift. It produces 80 BHP and 112 Nm. Both manual and AMT automatic transmissions are offered.

Maruti calls this engine ‘ one of the world’s most fuel efficient engines’, and revealed that the manual Dzire delivers ARAI mileage is almost equal to that of the Swift. It is, in fact, India’s most fuel-efficient sedan today.

Maruti has also introduced an efficient CNG option on the new Dzire as well. The previous generation sedan used to enjoy immense popularity in the fleet segment, with CNG forming a huge share of those volumes. With the fourth generation getting this option, sales and acceptance are only expected to rise.

Unlike the previous model and many Maruti cars that we know, the new Dzire has scored a 5-star safety rating in Global NCAP crash tests. This strikes a likeable contrast against the previous generation scoring just two. It comes with 15+ safety features including 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, three-point seatbelts for all seats, TPMS and more.
